ODEX, Let Me Share With You How To Make Money

I’m tired of trying to argue that anime fans in Singapore should be banned from downloading fansubs. So,ODEX,I shall share with you the secret of how to make the money that you desperately need. And no need to thank me.

First, you got to get rid of all your currently poor quality packaged products. Anyone can tell that they are trash at the first glance. Come on,silver-boxed VCDs(Yes VCDs,thank you very much)… You can do better than that. Look,no one is going to spend their hard earned money on sweat. Its common sense, unless you don’t have any.

Ok,the next step would be to stop releasing anymore new anime VCDs and DVDs. And don’t ask why, when everyone already knows the answer. Poorly subbed products with problems all over the place, only fools would purchase that.

And quoting Mr Sing’s “perception problem” and “unable to differentiate fansubs from ODEX DVDs when played back on a 42 -inch TV set from the Home Section of Straits Time on 1st June 2007, I would like to ask some questions.

Regarding the first quote, is that how you should treat your customers and potential buyers?Where is the customer is always right attitude? If you want to be stubborn and say that its all the same,go ahead,no one can stop you anyway. It doesn’t mean that if you,Mr Sing, feel that the quality is good, then everyone must feel the same way too. You are not the majority,Mr Sing.
Regarding the second quote, ODEX dvd video quality is supposed to be superior to fansubs, not on the same level. That’s why fansubs are free and DVDs need to be bought with something called money. And may I ask which fansubbed anime the DVD was compared to? For all we know,it might have been a low quality fansubbed anime. I would LOL at that. And one last thing, how many(few) titles have been released on DVD?

Third, find ways and means to get in R1 and R2 anime DVDs into Singapore.Let’s face the fact that majority of the anime community(or should I say all?) is complaining that ODEX sucks at producing VCDs/DVDs. Why not just quit producing and be the distributor instead? You’ll get the moolah that you’ve always wanted so badly, and the anime fans in Singapore will be happy and be able to get quality products with limited/special/extra stuff included. Let me remind you that America and Japan, especially Japan, are superior in packaging their products into cool-looking stuff, unlike our sunny little island. There’s no need to go further into the real quality of the R1 and R2 dvds with their packaging already owning the DVDs over here.

I’ve always wanted to say something about the packaging of local VCDs that Odex sells. I don’t know if its only me, but I can’t really seem to differentiate Odex VCDs from pirated ones. Maybe the pirates have been improving so drastically, or… I don’t know.

Alright, now with R1 and R2 anime DVDs in Singapore, you can now start selling them. And with the R3 anime dvds gone,I’m sure the anime community in Singapore will be a happier place. Now just wait for the inward cashflow. Simple, isn’t it.

I assure you,if I see imported R2 dvds in HMV , I would willing spend my money until I can only afford to eat instant noodles for the rest of the month. I’m sure the rest of the hardcore anime fans would help you to generate income too.

And look,I helped you solve the resources problem. Not only do you not have to employ translators to sub the animes, you also save on the factory production costs(not that they seemed very high to begin with anyway). Ta-da, problem solved, everyone happy.

And after you do all this, you can start suing people who illegally download anime that has already been brought in on R1 and R2 dvds. I’ll support you.Oh,and for those who claim to love anime, but don’t want to buy the R1 or R2 DVDs which are of really good quality, go ahead and sue these people for all I care. The freeloaders deserve their own special treatment.

Oh,and this is a side note for HMV Singapore. If Odex doesn’t want to listen to me and stick to their old ways, go ahead and use my method. Just make sure that the price of the R2 DVDs are not so expensive, just slightly higher after converting from yen to singapore dollars and adding the shipping.Oh,and lower the prices of the japanese music cds as well. Do this and I’ll make a trip down every end of the week and blow my remaining allowance on the CDs/DVDs.
