LOL at this News Snippet from The New Paper

I have to say, this is why I hate the typical Singaporean.

Some parents have complained about these figurines being sold in gashapon dispensing machines somewhere in the neighbourhood in Sengkang. I was so close to laughing out loud in public upon chancing on this snippet.

Firstly, the figurines suck. I bet they are bootlegs, especially since they are priced at a mere dollar. I won’t want them even if they were free. Oh,and if these figurines are sexy,I seriously don’t know what the other figurines in the shops are.

Secondly, typical Singaporean parents are such idiotic losers. I mean, if they see something that they think contains even the slightest tinge violent, sex or nudity, they’ll be the first and only ones to complain.Due to us being a democratic country, the censorship board has to even listen to such nonsense. Looking at this snippet,I recalled reading a letter posted by a parent on the online Straits Times forum, wanting to change the rating of Shrek 3 from PG to NC-16. It’s rate PG for a reason, and that is for you to guide your children between what’s wrong and right in the movie. That person’s letter had many rebuttal replies. Ha.

Luckily, and thankfully, my parents aren’t like that.

Oh and lastly, I like the way they include humor by stating “the shocked shop owner”. Come on,he has only 6 machines, and he doesn’t know what’s in them. Also, what’s there to be shocked about? It’s not like you will get into big trouble. I bet it was added in as additional “spice” for this snippet. After,The NewPaper’s quite a crappy newspaper anyway.

This is such a joke.

lol wad to do. Singapore is successful no doubt but it comes with a price. Which is rather shallow pop culture mentality and rigid-minded parents that don’t help.

*sbd from sp jculture club is here* rofl. Ok. ahem. on to the “typical singaporeans” in general.

They complain about the slightest things that happened. I still can recall the night when the whole of Singapore had a massive blackout few years back and what did Singaporeans on the road do? Gave the FM a call and demand a reason for the blackout and they were merely complaining about how hot it is to be stuck in a car (get out of the car then!!), how late it was, and when was it going to end. And it was only a few hours.

If anything terrible is gonna strike Singapore, I don’t want to imagine what the first thing most (kiasu) singaporeans would do.

I remembered reading an article about parents complaining about violent games… and then there goes all their nonsense again. Next, you find them complaining about violent TV shows. And next, don’t be surprised to find them complaining about violent anime.
