Finally, the supposedly last 2 episodes of Code Geass have aired.I had pretty high hopes for it since there was a great hype over it. Too bad I was quite disappointed by it. Sure, the battle scenes were cool, but I felt that the ending sucks. Sunrise, stop leaving the viewers not knowing who died and which faction won the war, dammit. Looks like there will be season 2… So much for the wait for the ending…
Oh, and Code Geass is seriously overrated…

Anyway,I had a constant thought throughout the entire 2 episodes of how much a coward and loser Lelouch is. Looking at his various battles,it can be seen that he has totally no skills in fighting. All he can do in his Knightmare is shoot the redish-black destructo-beams and vanquish weak aerial enemy units. In close combat, he’s pretty much useless.
At the scene where Lelouch and Suzaku fought,Suzaku would have kicked Lelouch’s arse if Lelouch didn’t have help from his allies who used the same old trick to immobilize LanceLot.
Another scene which shows Lelouch’s inability to fight well would be his battle with Cornelia. If he did not have the power of the Geass to control Dalton to save him,he would have been defeated right there and then.

In fact, without the power of the Geass, he would not have started a rebellion and became Zero. All this while, his power has all been tapped from his Geass ability. Sure, one might argue that he has to have the intelligence in order to have such power. While I do not deny the fact that Lelouch is a genius, I feel that he overly relies on his Geass.Lelouch is also a coward for abandoning his allies to fend for themselves while he tries to save his sister.Good leaders are not supposed to leave their followers no matter what the circumstances are. Lelouch has failed in this point. He does not have leadership, but instead is just a coward who decides to save his own skin by conveniently making use of the people around him as pawns in a chess game.
Somehow,I often related Lelouch to Raito from Death Note. Both of their characters are somewhat similar. They both have power and use it,together with manipulating the people around them to achieve their targets. I hate spineless weak cowards who do such things.
Anyway, I’m hoping that season 2 arrives soon so that the ending will finally be known. And I hope that Lelouch suffers the same pathetic fate as Raito. Ha.

I agree with you about their character flaws, but i think thats what the developers were going for. Of course they seem to be the cool main characters at first, but lets take code geass for example. As the story moves forward we see Lelouch’s motive for declaring war on Britannia become skewed. This is pretty evident in epi 25 when Lelouch basically says “why the fuck did i do this again?” But yea, i think that the developers wanted viewers to become disgusted with his personality in the end.
I appreciate how they did all that, but i really hate when they leave open endings like that. I agree with you there and I just want them to show what really happened. =D
Wonder when they are going to announce season 2…
While I understand your opinions on Lelouch’s character flaws, I must disagree that their a bad thing. It actually brings him down from the status that some too perfectly made anime characters have. In other words it makes him somewhat more of a believable being.
He isn’t good with Nightmare Frames because unlike practically all the other pilots in the series he isn’t trained. He treats people like pawn pieces because thats how he visualizes the battle field, his sense of strategy comes from chess games.
PS: Light’s name is supposed to be Light, even in the Japanese version. Spelling his name Raito would be incorrect.
PPS: Light’s fate was destined if you payed attention close enough. At least in the manga series.
I agree with some of your post, but I also think smarter people just get others to do the job and take credit for it. Even though Suzaku is good at physical combat it doesn’t make him an interesting character or even effective.
When I watched Code Geass closely, I realized that Suzaku himself is nothing but a mere traitor out for a deathwish. He is also a coward who hides behind his feelings of “justice” and doing what’s right in order to advance his own career. Most of the breaks he gets in Code Geass are due to knowing Lelouch and chasing down Zero.
I think Lelouch is effective because he is a coward and he sucks at fighting. He is much more creative and his tactics work much better than Suzaku. He could have killed Suzaku a while ago and I thought that was unrealistic that he didn’t. Overall Code Geass is a lame soap opera that wasn’t worth the time I spent watching it. I wish I could change it for better, but oh well.
you do have a point, but you forgot something.in the last battle, Lelouch left his “knights” alone to save his sister. Lelouch went to save his sister because she was the reason for him to fight.if he had stayed, his reason to fight would had probably been killed. so, next time watch your word and pay close attention.
\gg
okay okay wow wow i know u aint hatin on light im tired of the same old naime were the good guy wins deathnote brought something new were the character was good and bad light was way smarter than near and he would have had a back up plan and light is an evil character u want to win. Lelouch may have killed euphie u think stuff like that is evil its fucking war u do wat u have to to win hes no coward just cuz he cant fight if it wasnt for him it wouldnt matter if kallen had all the fighting skills in the waorld she would still die every war has fighters and commanders and none can survive without the other.
I didn’t really get into CG cuz after 4 eps it just felt like psychic, superhero, weak mind rape, mecha death note. Kind of like death note for kids. So ha to everyone who was depressed by the ending……..
WHY CANT ANIME’S JUST FOLLOW THEIR MANGA COUNTER PARTS!
Shit now I remember the ending to berserk
Lelouch is a cunt.
^ if you think that, then he’s done his job and he’s done it well.
dude, lelouch is different from wat u think
oh and you couldnt really call him a coward since i dont think u would be brave enuf to make an army and one more thing: he did make the world better at the end of season 2
Lelouch contradicts himself when he swears euthi as his enemy despite her forming a Japan territory. Selfish in the fact he wants a better place for his sister when all his allies die in battle.
Tries to be all mind game like but instead it just dry humps the leg of death note.
So many plot holes if L was in the Britannia army Lulu wouldn’t stand a chance.
“felt like psychic, superhero, weak mind rape, mecha death note”
haha best CG review ever
I stopped reading your lame review after you called Lelouch weak. You clearly didn’t understand the anime. World domination doesn’t require physical strength, but mental one . Lelouch may be weaker in some aspects, but he was the smartest. He finally got what he wanted, not with strength, but with his brain. I loved the way he changed during the second season. He was kinda evil in R1, then he realized that he had friends to look after, so he turned into a good guy. So another reason to like him: Double personality.
The anime had many epic moments, moments that people watch after finished the anime over and over **WHY?**: The anime was like a puzzle, everything makes sense after you watch the anime again. The funny part is. Bleach and Naruto may have a lot more fights, but are way more boring than Code Geass. Unlike those 2 enemies, Code Geass isn’t predictable
Code Geass was not overrated, you just suck. Death Note fanboy
O yeah one more thing. The creators wanted to make something unique. so what if lelouch can’t fight? It’s something ORIGINAL. O yeah I forgot Light was able to handle knightmares and world domination.
Final:
lelouch is good, light is bad
lelouch achieves his goal, light does not
lelouch keeps his sanity, light goes insane
Lelouch was the byronic hero, a very flawed man who despite his selfish motives and agenda, distributed hope and had a noble if not selfless agenda to a defeated nation to the point of the Black Rebellion in Season 1.
Lelouch told C2 that even without Geass he would’ve started his rebellion, albeit at a later time. To quote, “It just put him on the path of his destiny. Thus he would’ve been Zero and started his rebellion.
He wanted to defeat Britannia, and the way to do that was first with Japan.
Lelouch is a commander, not a well trained fighter, and keep in mind that he always risks his life in battle. Cowards try to command in a safe zone, but Lelouch was always on the front line. Also keep in mind that Cornelia is a seasoned veteran Knightmare user who conquered the Middle East in Episode 5 and Lelouch is barely 18 years old w/ no Knightmare combat experience, except from the beggining of Season 1. Lelouch is a commander, and he doesn’t always use his soldiers inhumanely. Note the battle at Narita.
He understands there are losses in battle, and to think that a commander can win a battle w/o casualties is unrealistic.
Lelouch killed the people of the JLF for his own ends, which was very underhanded but keep in mind the JLF still used hostages.
