Attack of the Calendars

KKnM has just updated their website, and are currently taking preorders for 2008 calendars.

Man,I have so many calendars that I want, but it’s just not practical to get them all. Sigh…

These are the following ones that I desire:

  • Evangelion: New Movie Version
    ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版
  • Ghost in the Shell S.A.C
    攻殻機動隊 S.A.C
  • Detective Conan
    名探偵コナン
  • Dragon Quest
    デルトラクエスト
  • Gurren Lagaan
    天元突破グレンラガン
  • Claymore
    クレイモア

Now,that’s a lot of calendars that I want. I doubt I even have enough wall space to hold them all if I bought all of them. I’m definitely getting the Evangelion calendar, all thanks to the Eva fanboy within me. I hope for more Rei and less Asuka ^^

As for the rest, I’ll have to think about it. I don’t wanna buy and leave the calendar in some dark corner in my cupboard, just like what I did with the Detective Conan 2007 calendar. I will have to wait for the pictures before I can come to a final decision. I certainly hope that decision does not do too much harm to my wallet and bank account,or I’m pretty screwed.

Belongings on you which show your Otaku side

I’m sure most anime fans out there would carry a keychain or two with them, and take these anime-related items with them no matter where they go.

I am guilty of such an act too. Fortunately,I only have 2 such items with me all the time. The rest of my otaku merchandise is kept hidden in my room.

First up,a keychain which happens to be a present from Zer0.

Digi Charat Keychain

I never leave my house without my keys, and this DiGi Charat keychain has been attached to my key ring every since the day I got it.

Next up,an item which I just recieved today.

Kino no Tabi : Afterthoughts

The world is not beautiful, therefore it is.

This phrase is so true. The world is never a perfect beautiful one,but still, it is beautiful because of the flaws it has.

The storyline of Kino no Tabi is a rather simple one. Kino, a traveller, travels from country to country, staying 3 days each country, irregardless of how the country is. So, since it has such a simple storyline, one would say that this anime would only be fitting for little kids. But,my opinions are otherwise. Why?

25/08/07 : A Day of Queuing Part 2: Natsumatsuri

Just when I thought that queuing for the day was finally over,I was wrong. It was time the second half of the day’s event,Natsumatsuri. And to think I was a little worn out from the Charafest already. Yes,I am weak.

Anyway,I met up with my CCA at EXPO for the marking of attendance before taking the chartered bus to the Japanese Primary School.

This was what greeted me when I joined the entrance queue.

25/08/07 : A Day of Queuing Part 1: Charafest 2007

This is the second time I queued up so much in a single day. The last time I did it was for the Singapore Launch of World of Warcraft : The Burning Crusade at Suntec City.

Arrived at Sunshine Plaza at around 11am with my friend, only to find quite a crowd out there already. The members were already inside thinning their wallets. Some had already come out and were at the cafe next door eating/chatting. I managed to spot a few familiar faces and had some conversations.

After getting my queue number(no. 20),my friend and I had brunch at the Wanton Mee store. As soon as we finished eating, the sale for non-members started.

Tomorrow is THE DAY …

when many otakus will be splurging their life savings at KKnM.And I will be there to,not that I am going to spend much.

Anyway,from what I heard,expect a long queue. I will probably be there around 11am.

After Charafest, there’s the natsumatsuri, which I will be going for as a helper.

As laziness runs within my blood,I will be wearing the helper’s shirt over to KKnM,before heading over to the natsumatsuri. So,if you do spot me,kindly come up to me and say hi and introduce yourself. After all,I am curious to know who my readers are. LOL

This is the shirt I am going to be wearing for the whole of tomorrow.

BACK

Well, hope I’ll be able to see some familiar faces tomorrow ^^

What if Shana fought in the Holy Grail War?

Look what Shana-tan did to Saber.

Looks like the Flame Haze is a much better warrior than the Servant. Shana should have joined the fight for the Holy Grail. Or then again, maybe not…

If she does, her master is going to suffer a fate worse than death. Imagine this:

Master : “I use my command seal to command you,Shana”

Shana-tan : “Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!”

Master : -.-”

Shana-tan : /kill master

I would like to see the Tsundere do that. After all, adding her to the war would only mean more drama.

Impulse Purchases : A guide on how to prevent them

I’m sure every collector has done many impulse purchases. My days as a collector have been merely less than a year, but I have already done many impulse purchases, which in the end caused me quite some pain.

I’ve always wanted to stop having the impulse to buy something that looks good in the shops, but there’s just this natural instinct within me which makes me continue on my purchasing spree. As a result,I spend my month’s allowance almost every week. Yes,I know,it’s not healthy. Fortunately, for me,I have been saving up before I became an anime fan,so it should be able to last me for a while. But,this is still not a solution.

As such,I have come up with some ideas, which might help both myself and anyone reading this post.

Here are some ways:

What was it that got me into Otakuism?

I often wonder how people got into anime. Accidental exposure? Peer pressure? Just plain luck(or bad luck)?

This is going to be quite a lengthy post about how I started,so you can skip this if you find that it’s going to be boring. Continue reading ‘What was it that got me into Otakuism?’

Anime Movies that are Great

With Japanese Anime movies being the hype,I decided to watch some of the more popular ones to see how great they are.And indeed, they are great.

To date,I have watched Byousoku 5cm,Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and Brave Story. I never regretted spending the time watching these 3.Why?

  • Graphics
  • Storyline

These 2 factors alone are enough for me to spend my time watching.

Let me state some of my opinions on the 2 factor in the 3 movies.
