Japan’s Cinemas

Mentioned in the previous post,I managed to catch the Evangelion Movie in a cinema near Disneyland.

It was my first time in a Japanese cinema, so I was pretty excited.

The cinema was not as great as I expected though… Singapore’s ones are better.

Let me tell you why.

  • Air-conditioning
  • The air-conditioning sucks. It was so freaking hot during the entire movie that I was perspiring throughout the whole 2 hours.

  • Seats
  • The seats were sort of stiff. I had to keep adjusting my sitting position so as to be able to enjoy the movie.

  • Pricing
  • For every 1 ticket I buy in Japan,I can buy about 2 in Singapore on a normal day. I was lucky and my ticket was only 1,000 yen. Normally, a ticket would cost from 1,500 to 1,800 yen.

Other than that,I have nothing to complain about. Overall, the movie was a great experience. Perhaps my movie experience would have been better if I went to different cinema instead.

Then again,I do not regret my decision to watch the movie. After all, it’s Evangelion.

Sorry to hear your experience wasn’t the best. I didn’t go to the movies very much when I lived in Japan, but the theater I went to was always nice, and the late evening ticket price was only 800 yen, which compares very favorably to the U.S. Then again, U.S. theaters suck, so maybe I just had low expectations.

Funny how here in the U.S. the cheap matinee tickets are like before 6pm, and the theaters are always packed late into the night, whereas in Japan after 10pm is the slow time when you can get the lower priced tickets.

:] Cinema tickets in Tokyo are definitely one of the most expensive on earth alright.

Actually, what I want to bitch about most is the price LOL. But I guess it’s ok as long as it’s Evangelion ^^
