Otaku Wear

Otakus often scrimp and save on everything that they can, except for their anime related products. Clothes are not an exception. Read Zer0’s post and watch the videos to see how extreme those otakus are. 3 shirts in the entire wardrobe,LOL.

Otakus are unwilling to spend much, if not any cash on clothes. This results in many wearing hand-me-downs and clothes which are so airy due to the uncountable number of holes due to wear and tear.

So,I was thinking, why not spend more on clothes that you would like to wear.

The one and only Otaku Brand came to mind. Cospa. The salvation for otaku fashion.

Here’s some clothes which you can wear without people looking at you at you differently from a normal person.

First up, the Laughing Man.

I have worn quite often to school, and even to DisneySea. People don’t seem to think much of it. Some of my friends think it’s some uniquely designed t-shirt produced by some random streetwear brand. Some have commented that the phrase “I thought what I’d do was, I’d pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes” was quite cool. No one suspected it was an anime related t-shirt at any point of time, until I told some of them who asked even more about it. I guess not many people who aren’t anime fans out that have watched Ghost in the Shell.

Next up,

I have not worn this out yet,as I just bought in during my trip in Chiba. But,I think it will give people the same impression as the Laughing Man shirt. Many of the ippanjin(一般人) would probably not have watched Evangelion and think that this is some logo of a random brand. Logos on shirts make them cool.

Also,

Out of all the Cospa stuff I own, this might probably not be the best choice to wear out, as there’s Rei on it. But I would wear it out anyway, since Rei’s hot. Like the Nerv shirt, I bought it during my trip, so I never had the chance to wear it out yet. But, while I packing this in my luggage, my teacher made a small comment, saying that Rei looked cute. Of course! And not to mention hot too! Anyway, there’s quite a lot of fashion wear with random lady faces on the clothes printings, so people might just see this shirt as one of those fashionable clothes. I hope ^^

And in case of chilly weather,

No one would suspect a windbreaker with the print “TDD-1″ to be an anime-related clothing. Military yes, anime no. But what about Full Metal Panic, which has both components? Well, the result is a cool looking windbreaker which will not cause people to know how much of an otaku you are, yet at the same time, you can preserve your otaku identity. Cool huh?

Maybe I should wear these clothes more often so as to lure the closet otakus in school out of their camouflage. After all, I have seen a few who have worn the Seigaku jacket in school. Who knows, I may have a small group of people coming out to me.

There’s still one more t-shirt I would like to get though. Too bad that the Gurren Lagann Drill t-shirt is currently out of stock at KKnM. Oh, and thanks to KKnM for helping me get the FMP windbreaker ^^

And there you have it. Comfortable and stylish wear. Don’t hide your otaku side. Instead, embrace it and blend it in with style.
