It’s been quite some time since I last purchased a figurine. The last one would be the Evangelion Shito series A-04 which i purchased 2 weeks ago. My hands were itching to get another figurine, and that was when Motoko came in.

For those who do not know, Motoko is a female cyborg who is the squad leader of Public Security Section 9 in Ghost in the Shell. Those who have not watched it, please do. It is a really kick-ass anime, especially for those who like mecha stuff and action. Anyway, the GSC Motoko is pretty cheap for a 1/8 figurine, compared to the other 1/8 figurines released this year. I got her at $60 at Toyntoys, located in China Square Central.

On the first look, this figurine might seem quite boring. However, if you look closely, Motoko is well-done, considering the price. I can’t really find any major flaws with her, other that some shoddy paint work in some parts of the coat. In fact, I’m satisfied with my purchase. In my opinion, this is one of the best figurines of Motoko that has been released.
Anyway, on my way back home after I got Motoko, I started thinking about what would the world be like if people could change bodies as shown in Ghost in the Shell. If there was really such a thing, as long as one’s ghost could be preserved, one can live forever. Also, there isn’t a need to care so much about fatal injuries as long as the ghost of a person can be transferred before his/her body dies. Sure, money would be required, but that would probably mean that the rich can live forever.
However, if bodies could be changed, then people would place material wealth over anything else. For example, Motoko’s watch’s importance far outweighs the value of her body to her. People would not be as valued as they are now.
But then again, this is just only a random fantasy thought of mine. Or it could be a reality in 50 years time? No one knows.
