Storage Space += 100% !!!

Hurray!

Billy bookcase - IKEA

This is going to be where I store my artbooks, mangas and other figurines. The bottom shelf of my glass tower is a very undesirable place to store books anyway. The doors are supposed to be fitted tomorrow. I dare not put anything on the shelves as for now.

Now, my room is so much more spacious after I replace the old roller cabinet with this new shelf. I wonder how long this shelf can last me before having to look for an additional one.

Before I end this post, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates, and updates being so short. I am kind of busy with my E-learning week, as well as having to study for my tests next week. In fact, the situation is pretty bad for me as I still have a lot of topics to cover for my various tests. After the test week would be not much better too, as it would be the submission of assignments. Meh.

I’ll try to update more frequently once I have the luxury of time to do so.

Kita… Wait, where’s 2 and 4?

Finally.

Now, to wait for 2 and 4. They might be on a trip to the airport as I type. I hope.

Now, I need to go get a good luck charm so that the MDA does not rape my DVDs. I should sue the MDA for raping my previous Amazon Japan package.

On a side note, I just realised what a fugly bedsheet I have. WTF MICKEY MOUSE?!!?! Looks like I need to get a new bedsheet. Probably one with hawt anime girls =X

One Thing which I Admire about Gantz

I dropped the Gantz manga series quite some time ago, but it was only a few days ago when I picked it up from where I last stopped. I think it was the after the Temple arc, where everyone except Kurono died. I realised how stupid I was to have dropped such a great manga series. The storyline’s pretty solid. And there’s one thing I like about Gantz.

The characters die. Yes. I am no sadist, but I’m actually happy that the characters, even Kurono (main character), died. Why?

The answer is simple. Characters dying in a gory manga with such intense violence adds on to the realism. Also, deaths which have some form of meaning add bonus points to the series too. There are many great anime/manga series, but those great ones which have characters dying are uncommon.

Many anime/manga series do not easily kill of characters for two reason. They are either shonen genre, and killing characters would be as good as indirectly teaching the kids that “Killing is good”. Or, they are afraid to lose viewers/readers once they kill off a character. Continue reading ‘One Thing which I Admire about Gantz’

Shonen Ace December 2007

There’s one good reason to get the latest issue of Shonen Ace.

REI!!! And why is Shinji on the Cover?

If you look closely at the cover of this issue, there’s a free Evangelion shirt given with every issue purchased. Yes, a FREE (ok, maybe not that free after all) free-sized shirt. I can’t really see the design, but I suppose it looks good. So far, all the freebies provided by Shonen Ace are of decent quality. I already reserved a copy at Kinokuniya Liang Court.

For further details, look here.

From past experiences, Shonen Ace often runs out days after it is brought in. I guess it’s almost as popular as Megami. So what are you waiting for, grab your issue of Shonen Ace together with the T-shirt now!!!

How Anime Might Have Changed Your Way of Thinking and How You Do Things

I’m sure everyone has changed in a way or another after starting to watch anime, be it in major or minor ways.

Here are some personal examples of how anime can change a person’s way of thinking/doing things:

Transport
You think that taking the bus home for 50 cents is a waste of money, since you can walk. 50 cents a day means $15 a month and $180 and year and…. Yea, you get what I’m saying. Imagine the stuff you can buy by just walking anyway! And you can delude yourself into think that walking is an extremely healthy activity, and buses are for lazy people.

But, your mindset totally changes when you have a figurine or some posters with you. Bus rides are a must so that you can migitate the risk of your loot being damaged. Plus, you want the fastest way home so that you can unwrap your goodies.

What to do with so many AWESOME wallpapers?

Shinkai Makoto’s wallpapers are awsome. Get them here if you haven’t gotten them. All of his 4 works have wallpapers featured in that link above.

Here are some samples to show how beautiful his work is, for those who do not have any idea.

I wanted to use them all, so I started looking for a wallpaper changer. I started off with the
Windows XP Creativity Fun Pack PowerToys Wallpaper Changer, only to find out that it cannot be used on dual screens. In the end, I settled for Wallpaper Master Pro (trial for only 30 days >_>), so that both my screens could be used.

The timing is set to 5 minutes, so I can to fully utilize all the wallpapers. The only complaint that I have about this program is that the transition between the changing of wallpapers are not smooth.

Meanwhile, I have got to find a new dual screen wallpaper changer that is free, before my trial expires.
Any suggestions?

Evangelion Die Sterne 2.0 (Pictures included)

Evangelion Die Sterne has been out of print for a long period of time, even before I started watching anime. I think it was printed a couple of years back, hence the out of production. But, I’m glad that a newer version of the artbook was published. It has been out in bookstores for some months, but it was only till today when I took opportunity of the Kinokuniya storewide 20% sales to grab this book.

And now, I present to you Die Sterne 2.0.

It costed S$50 even after the discount, and the yen price was 2,800 yen. I felt it was still a ripoff but I got it anyway. My wallet cries.

I did not scan this artbook mainly because I do not have a scanner, and I don’t want to risk damaging it. Instead, I took photos of it so that you can have a sneak preview of what’s inside. Sorry for the poor quality. I just cannot find a good way to take pictures without the reflection being in the picture. Continue reading ‘Evangelion Die Sterne 2.0 (Pictures included)’

Evangelion Digital Orgel

This has been on Animate’s website for sometime already, but I figured I would post about this anyway.

This beauty is going to be released on the 1st of November 2007. Looks sweet, doesn’t it? I am definitely going to get this if KKnM ever brings it in. Continue reading ‘Evangelion Digital Orgel’

The only thing in Genshiken 2 which is worth my attention so far…

Genshiken 2 is really slow paced, and too serious. It’s lacking far too much in the humor department. I wouldn’t really know how fast or slow the pace is, as I stopped reading the manga at where the OVAs ended so that I could fully enjoy the series. After all, the previous season and the OVAs were faithful to the manga. Looks like I might just pick up the manga and finish it instead of waiting for the anime.
Anyway, speaking of which, the one and only thing which I felt was decently interesting would be the opening animation. The ending sequence of Genshiken 2 was too similar to the previous season’s ending animation.

Anyway, here are some screenshots of the new opening animation. Continue reading ‘The only thing in Genshiken 2 which is worth my attention so far…’

The Unhealthy yet Healthy Lifestyle of an Anime Fan

Everyone often says that anime fans, especially those the more hardcore ones (otakus), often lead pathetically unhealthy lives. That is true. But, there are always 2 sides to every issue. Let me state how the lifestyle of an anime fan (me,in this case) can be unhealthy yet healthy:
