Granted, a majority of these fans are teenage asian pop culture addicts. All I can say about the price differences is supply and demand. With a few live-action drama adaptations of select anime/manga series (e.g. Nodame Cantabile, Hana Yori Dango) becoming a success, more and more fans of anime have been curious in the J-dorama scene (not to mention the booming K-drama genre). Granted, a majority of these fans are teenage asian pop culture addicts.

Different reasons for walking, not spending ridiculous amounts on food, etc. I guess it made my TV schedule not dependent on the limited channels I get, but that's about it.
