I went to Kinokuniya today, and happened to browse through this book. I regret doing so, and sympathize with my wallet. It’s awesome. I must get it. Even though I already said I would not unnecessarily get artbooks.
The whole book is rather detailed about the characters/mecha/angels from the start of the anime, all the way until the 13th Angel. All the characters, no matter how minor, are listed together with some specific details about them. The art is rather good too. I think they used the remastered images for this. Also, there’s a rather detailed goods section, which lists all the offical resin kits, CDs, LDs and DVDs that have been released till now. This boosts the cool factor of this book.
The bad thing however, is the price. We all know how overpriced imported books are. And worse, the Japanese yen is on the rise. I’ll probably grab this at the next 20% Kinokuniya Sale (next month?), or wait till next year to get it, together with Chronicles B. Or maybe on my trip, after I manage to successfully convince my father to help me claim a free air ticket to Tokyo using his mileage points. The latter would probably fail, so….. my cash will get squeezed anyway.
Oh, by the way, Kinokuniya now has this offer. For every Evangelion manga you buy, you get a free bookmark. The Rei ones are rather good, or should I say, omgwtf good. While stocks last.
