I find the character to be adorable...though the hair drives me insane (who can walk like that?). It does prove how much otakus love moe, because the original Vocaloid didn't sell until they added Hatsune Miku.
The voice itself, yeah it's weird. It depends on how well they did it (the "warble" can be absolutely terrible if done by an amateur). I guess we all have our opinions don't we?

The concept is interesting, and I like what's being down with it. The amount of fanfare for it though seems a little unsettling for me. :/

Actually, I find the voice fascinating (the character design not so much). The voice is definitely not quite human, which is pretty interesting: it doesn't fall away, or change later in a song, or any of the other little clues that show a voice is coming from a human being. The smoothness and evenness of the performance is moving, in its own way.

Not that I disagree that this is bandwagon-hopping, but the Japanese fascination with robots is interesting in itself. Does it have to do with their/our robotic lives? Does it have to do with the fact that the Japanese workforce is shrinking and more workers are needed?

Zenruhi is never affected by other sources of moe. :P

Miku looks great, but the vocaloid software isn't that good. She definitely can't beat any of the original singers unless they are Homura Nagi.

Oh and regarding the Operating System, have you seen Chraen's posts on XP-tan?

All I know is Miku is filled with MOE.
And I are supporter of MOE. Simple.

tj_han > I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this way.

stripey > The concept's fascinating, but if not for a moe character as a mascot, it would probably have a much lower sales record.

anonymous > Agreed.

skyfish > Those who thought that her voice was better than the original phail.

§oL > The Japanese are just too creative for their own good. LOL

bakaboi > Me liking Rei and this are 2 separate issues.

TP > Ruined indeed. Now when some one mentions Vocaloid, the word OTAKU comes to mind.
