Anime, Otakism and the rantings of Japanese Popular Culture

First it was the Gurren Lagann DS game, then Final Fantasy A2, and now this.

I ranted about how much I wanted to get this a few months back. And I did.

Every anime fan definitely wants more budget for his/her anime spendings. I am no exception. Yet, we often lament that we lack the cash to increase our budget.

Hence, I have come with a brief simple guide. Please note that this is not a guide on how to increase your income, but how to make do with what you currently have and increase your budget for a certain spending channel, which in this case, the channel can be generally classified as “Otaku”.
All the points mentioned below are common sense, but it seems that sometimes people, including me, lack it.
To begin, take a look at the division of your current income.

I’m sure everyone who reads this blog has had a dream that is somewhat related to Anime/Manga, or some aspects of Otaku Culture, at least once. Especially since we probably all think, sleep, eat and drink anime. It could be some ecchi dream with all the hawt anime girls flocking around you to your heart’s desire. It could you be piloting this ultra cool transformable mecha, out to save the world. It could even be something more realistic, like having your dream otaku room.

Everyone dreams, but not all dreams are recalled upon awaking from slumberland.
I probably dream anime/manga and whatnot every time I sleep, but I cannot really recall much of the dreams related to this topic, if there are that many. One dream, however, was rather unique that I actually remembered it. The whole dream felt so realistic and actually sent a chill down my spine when I woke up. There were neither moe characters nor leet mechas present in my subconscious mind during that dream.
I spent my Christmas Night watching the 2 hour long animated flick released in 1984, and I must say it was a good 2 hours spent. I’m convinced that it’s a zillion better than the countless MOE mongering crap that floats around in the anime scene these days. And I feel quite retarded for not viewing this epic movie till yesterday.

This movie has it all; Romance, Action, Mecha, Music. I was impressed with it, considering it was released in the 1980s. It was a truly epic feature for its time, just as Evangelion was epic for its time. Heck, I wasn’t even on this Earth then.

Despite the graphics being a notch below the anime aired in the 21st century, the storyline was a pioneer. Basically, there’s a love triangle between a hero and 2 girls, fights among 3 armies in the universe, and a happy ending. Don’t you agree that some parts of this storyline appear frequently in post 1980s anime?
of Steel. The PC game of course. Did you think that I would get romantically involved in something?

This song originated more than 10 years ago, together with the beginning of Evangelion, with the original singer being Takahashi Youko.
