Freedom Project : No Freedom

I watched Freedom a few weeks ago, but it was only until now that I have gotten down to writing a post on it. A few other animebloggers have written about it too.

Unlike the rest who have written rather lengthy posts on Freedom, covering everything from the animation art to the entire storyline, I have decided to state some opinions on a few parts of the anime instead. Therefore, I suggest you check out the other posts too, as I will only be covering some specific parts. 2 parts to be exact.

First, the part where the children, upon reaching a certain age, undergo a ceremony named “Freedom”. This is just basically tagging them with a silver stupid looking wristband so that the “Government” of Eden can track every single one of them. The Irony. I am totally unable to imagine living in a world where my every single movement is being monitored and tracked. Then again, it might be happening already, but it might be just that no one manages to notice. Probably not the tracking part, but the monitoring part is highly possible. Hopefully, all the spy cameras are kept to the streets and only to the streets.
