This year’s EOY was kind of a screw up for me.
First of all, I woke up at 1pm. I had orginally planned to wake up at around 9am, so that I could reach then EOY venue at around 11am-12pm. Seems like I was in such a deep slumber that even my alarm could not awake me. Oh well.
The next screwed up thing would be the camera. My mum took both the Casio and Sony digital cameras to Korea, so I was left with a crappy Fujifilm camera which uses XD cards. The camera’s package did not come with any XD card, and XD cards cost a bomb, as compared to SD cards. Not having the cash, I skipped the idea of getting an XD card, and just went direct to the event. Screw Fujifilm and their overpriced XD cards. I should sell this camera soon, and top up some cash to get a better camera.
Anyway, I went to EOY at 4pm with nothing but a camera that could only take 8 pictures. I decided I had to save the 8 shots for cosplayers who were really awesome. After paying 12 bucks for the entrance fee, I met up with Zer0 and Windbell. It was then Windbell told me that there was a really hawt Rei cosplayer with bandanges. Immediately, I decided to save all the shots I had for her.
One of the best Rei cosplays I have ever seen locally. The other was one which was equally as awesome was at Downtown East during the Cosfest 2007 finals.
Despite my crappy photography skills, and the inability to take a photo with proper background, I present to you the best cosplayer of EOY 2007.
Some photos were rather similar, such as the second and the third one. The second one has her looking away, while the third one has her looking in my direction, so I guess that is still quite a difference. I figured that I would post all 7 shots anyway. Sadly, I was unable to obtain a chance to use up my last shot, as she moved away before I could take it =(
Overall, this is the best Rei cosplayer that I have seen in real life. The vibes that she emits feel like those Rei would. The Rei fanboy with me gives both thumbs up.
One thing I realised about Rei cosplayers is that they would cosplay her in school uniform rather than the plugsuit. I guess it’s much more complex to cosplay in a plugsuit, but it would be really kickass if there is a cosplayer who could pull such a level of cosplay off.
On a note to end off, I would say that this year’s EOY was not really worth the entrance fee and time. There were only a handful of really good cosplayers, such as the human sized Gundam, Rei, and a few others. I would not know if this is an improvement from last year, as I was unable to attend EOY 2006.
One thing that I definitely know, however, is that charging 12 bucks for some booklets and an entry to a cosplay event is a total ripoff. I do not see the reason why EOY should charge an entrance fee, when Cosfest did not.
And finally, check the other anime blogs for photos and coverage on EOY 2007, once their posts are up ^^
* Check out DarkMirage’s post on EOY 2007. He has much better shots of the Rei cosplayer than I do. And more photos of other cosplayers, of course.
* Windbell has his pictures up too. Check them out.
* Zer0’s comprehensive take on EOY has been posted too.

Don’t fret about it >.> I’m sure you enjoy yourself. lol
I look forward to Asuka in a plugsuit as much as you look forward to a Rei. Sadly, I’ve not seen any yet.
zenical > At least you got in free, LOL
§oL > I have not seen any decent Asukas, be it in uniform or plugsuit, locally. But if you are looking for a cosplay picture of Asuka, you can try Kipi, the Japanese cosplayer. I remember that she cosplayed as Asuka before.
Hmm, i seem to have missed her all the while at eoy =.=. Thats a really nice Rei cosplay.
I’m no better off =( I literally deleted 75% of the pics which I took =.=
There are many reasons why there are an entry fee for the event, as there is a need to cover the cost incurred from renting the facility.
