I shall take back my comments from the doujinshi post I wrote a few days back. Doujinshi can be as awesome as, or even be on a higher level than official work. Now, I have a rough idea why fellow otakus are willing to brave the harsh elements for doujinshi. I am enlightened (Ok, that sounded rather spastic)
While I was browsing through an imageboard, I chanced upon Nagko’s art. There’s something about his art style that I like, but I’m unable to figure out what it is specifically as I am artistically retarded.
Here are some samples of his works (SFW) :
Astounding artwork isn’t it?
Sadly, all he releases are artbooks, so there’s not even the slightest presence of any storyline. Also, all his releases are rated 18+ (duh!), so I’ll have to wait another wait before I can waltz into one of those shops in Akihabara and grab some of his work. However, it’s only about 50% of his work that are NSFW, so that’s not too bad.
It is impossible for me to pass off as above 18, so I guess I’ll have to wait till the end of this year before I can legally purchase anything of that rating. Being young has it’s disadvantages D=
Anyway, since many C73 doujinshis are being released, there is no better time than now to check out some of them. Although I don’t really like the fact that all of them are H-doujinshis…
My personal opinion is that H-art actually spoils the meaning of art appreciation. Then again, it’s only my opinion, so I don’t see why it’s wrong.
If anyone has any interesting non-H doujins, maybe you would like to recommend it to me? Thanks a lot in advance ^.^

This is nice!
The girl on top, isn’t she from Tales of Eternia? Farah-something? I luvved that game way back when.
Now I’m rather curious about something, if you happen to walk into the adult section of Toranoana and attempted to purchase something, how do they determine if you are over 18 or not? When I was in Japan I didn’t see any means for them to check whether you are of legal age or not.
On the doujin front, I think it’s nice to see the variety of art styles applied to a particular series that you like, or even just general artwork itself. Makes me envious of the people who have that kind of skill.
Aeternus > I’m not that sure lol. But the art sure is awesome.
Adun > Normally they don’t check unless you look like you’re younger than 18. Sadly, I look way younger than 18.
I can’t draw for nuts either lol
doujins are nice to read…it gives you different perspectives of original characters…
original doujins are good too…dun forget…it is still an artist behind the doujin even if it isnt good…
besides…there are many non-H doujins available too…and they are really nice…
Good to know you came to your senses. Sure, a lot of Japanese doujinshi (manga/CG) are H but there’s also a whole ton of doujin manga that is completely SFW which rarely gets translated. Among doujin circles, there are some absolutely amazing artists which you shouldn’t miss out on. I’d recommend looking at Hunting the Elusive (pireze) blog for names and some stuff he scans & uploads himself - check Releases.
One website I know that has a collection of scanlated SFW manga doujins is http://www1.freewebs.com/aortic/index.htm but it mostly has just Fate, Tsukihime, Touhou, Higurashi and Haruhi stuff.
Thanks for recommending Nagko. I just did a search on TokyoTosho.com and there’s a new torrent with all his stuff in case you hadn’t checked.
Mark > Thanks for the link =)
Even Yukirin started out at Comiket. Suffice to say she’s the best doujin artist out there, period.
But still, where’d you get that Haruhi drawing? I don’t remember seeing it in any of his recent works (Pola, Yu-ga, Plagiarism 5).
Never mind… I found the Haruhi drawing in Heart. He still loves drawing Eureka and Anemone. Good thing too, because I love how he draws Eureka.
Since you’re a Rei fan, check out Plagiarism 5.
The Haruhi Drawing was from Nagko’s Heart. I think it was released quite a some time ago.
