The news regarding Puchi Evangelion’s anime was released long ago, but not much information was given about it. Nothing much is known besides the characters and the name of the series.

Just a few days ago, Gainax released an update featuring the behind the scenes process of Puchi Evangelion. I found it rather interesting to see how they actually worked on their 3D art.
Pictures after the jump.
Basically, they would have to take a real life model reference for the scenes before they would pen it down and use the computer to generate the 3D digital models.
For example, look at this which is taken as a reference.

And now this, which is the actual 3D digital scene.

This looks rather similar to the real life reference, doesn’t it. Although I have no idea how or why the furry character is taken as a reference model for Eva Unit 01. Both their poses are different, so I don’t really know if that fur ball is placed there as a silly joke, or if it really plays the role of a model.
Next, another picture. This time, there’s only 1 character, 2 if you actually count the hand.

LOL. The guy’s facial expression is priceless.

The real life reference is still much more hilarious than the 3D CGI model. And wow, Shinji in 3D form has fat fingers.
The 3D element of the anime appears to be a rather unique element. I will be watching this when god knows when it is released, as I am curious to find out more about this series. It’s supposed to be a school comedy, but after reading some Puchi Evangelion 4-koma, I wasn’t particularly impressed. This might just be another diabolical scheme by Gainax to milk the cash of Evangelion fans. Those guys are much better off planning a take over the world scheme.
I’m not placing any hopes for this to turn out awesome, but I do hope that this isn’t some 3rd-rate series. Hopefully, its humor will be decent, and not some lame crap.
