I reckon a lot of anime that is in a school setting recalls one's own schooldays (hopefully not the <em>School Days</em> kind of schooldays). In my case, <em>Haruhi</em> (of all things) reminded me strongly of the lunchtimes just spent shooting the breeze with my friends (I guess I had exciting friends). And sports anime definitely gives me a nostalgic feeling for my school's fencing club. And <em>Full Metal Panic</em> reminds me of my stint working for a mercenary company - no, wait, that was a dream. Nostalgia generated by entertainment is a funny thing.
