Honey And Clover Dorama : Hagu-chan!!!

After watching the first 2 episodes of Honey and Clover’s dorama, I must say I quite hooked to it. I don’t know how much the dorama differs from the anime or live action movie, since I have not watched either of them. Hence, I am unable to comment on how awesome/sucky the dorama is compared to the other 2. However, I do know a beauty, be it 2D or 3D, when I see one.

I picked up this dorama knowing nothing else except that it was a live adaptation version of the anime. I was curious anyway, and there hasn’t been any other dorama on my watch list since Galileo ended. I was not certain if the dorama would be good, and even now after 2 episodes, I’m still not certain. What I do know, however, is that watching Honey and Clover for Hagumi Hanamoto is all worth it.

SUGAR RUSH!!!

Her first screen appearance made me feel as if I had a sudden mental sugar rush. It doesn’t stop there. The sugar rushes keep flowing on each time she smiles. Just after 2 episodes, I feel that my mind has diabetes. And to think this is only the beginning. I’ll be in sugar heaven by the time the dorama comes to an end.

I did a quick image search and found that the 2D Hagu-chan looked like she was 6 years old. Not exactly the most appealing appearance. I’ll stick to the 3D Hagu-chan instead.

I think my screencaps suck and don’t do any justice to showcase her beauty, but she really is beautiful. I mean, it’s been quite some time since I got this sugar rush feel from watching Jdoramas, the last time being Hana Kimi, where Horikita Maki was a hawt reverse trap. I seem to have a liking for reverse traps.

For someone like me who hasn’t watched the Honey and Clover anime, the storyline appeals to me. I’ve always like high school slice-of-life romance in Japanese doramas. Watching Honey and Clover dorama reminded me of how I wished for a Genshiken dorama. Genshiken has both slice-of-life and romance, and also an additional otaku element, so it should cater to a wide audience. Come on and produce a live action Genshiken!!!

After watching the start of the dorama, I’m wondering if I should continue to go on with the anime. I was looking around, and people had varying opinions. Some said the anime was awesome, while some said that the anime was too slow-paced. I think I would probably try out a few episodes to see if it suits my taste, since I’m rather free now that the holidays have began.

I’ve seen a couple episodes of the drama, and I’ve seen all of the anime–which is one of my all time favorites. The drama definitely isn’t as good as the anime, but it’s also a lot better than the utter waste that was the live-action movie. The drama doesn’t seem to be following the anime/manga’s story almost at all, making up brand new situations for pretty much all the characters. Some of the characters also act a little differently, especially Mayama, who isn’t a prankster with Morita in the anime. But on the whole they’re much more in character than they are in the movie. But I miss the wonderful use of insert songs and the lengthy monologues of the anime.

As for Hagu-chan…the weird thing is that even though the actress really is only 15, she actually looks too OLD compared to the manga/anime incarnation, who is downright loli. :) Thing is a lot of the humor surrounding her in the original played upon her appearance. She’s no moe fetish, no sir!

I just realised that I didn’t realise that the actoress was only 15. Which means she’s younger than me ^^

I don’t really like loli looking females.

death to those that says Honey and clover anime ain’t nice :P

anyway the Jdrama isn’t really following, instead they have their stories going on. Only character wise follows. Not a bad thing, generally Jdrama bout Uni life is quite good. anyway is Honey and clover! how bad can it get? xD
