I’m single. Hence, Valentine’s Day is no special day to me, unlike for my attached friends. I bet many singles out there are wallowing in self-pity and depressive emotions, but don’t be. It isn’t all that bad. Here are some things to do on the 14th of February.
Work

Unleash your Hataraki Powers
If you have already have a job, you would probably see most of your attached workmates trying to get off work early, or even taking the day off to spend that special day together with their loved ones. Don’t feel pathetic. Instead, this is a good opportunity for you to clock extra hours of overtime, if possible. You have nothing else to do anyway, so might as well make the best out of it and get some extra cash for a manga volume or two. If you spend more time working, you would be too busy to even think about how lonely the romantic day is for you. With that, the day passes, and you get a few extra bucks in your spending budget.
As for those in the jobless group like me, find one. It might probably be too late to find one now, since today is the day. You can try this next year. I’m sure you have some people who require their jobs to be covered for, especially for those of your friends working part time. For this year, you can try something else.
Start a temporary business

Get a Horo as your business partner
Ever wonder how much money the shops selling roses, chocolates and other lovey-dovey stuff earn everytime Valentine’s Day arrives? Stop wondering and join the money making wagon. Start stocking up and taking orders before the price of all the lovey-dovey stuff rise. The only problem would be the flowers, which are rather hard to keep fresh. If you are able to do so, all’s well. Rent a pushcart a day or two before till the actual day itself, selling the goodies at a slightly lower rate than market price. You would probably get some customers aside from the preorders.
One thing, however, is the chance your investment might fail. Business is never easy. You can try this at your own risk, and if you succeed, you just might be able to purchase that dakimakura you’ve always dreamed of hugging.
Pamper yourself

Soak in an Onsen
If you are too lazy to earn the moolah, spend it. Buy something that you like as a gift to yourself, reminding how much you love yourself. I don’t really like this idea though. I never liked buying stuff during special occassions.
Sit back and Relax

Enjoy some eye-candy
Home alone surrounded with your harem of bishoujo figurines and dakimakuras with nothing to do? Start a mini anime marathon, watching shows such as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann which you would shed hot-blooded manly tears for, or the slightly more emotional stuff such as Honey and Clover. If you’re a little tired of anime, you could try gaming. Just keep yourself occupied and entertained to repel the loneliness.

Look, there’s so much to do, I don’t think I could complete all that I stated within a single day. That’s more than enough to keep you occupied! So, you might wonder how I will be spending the day, especially since I have given a handful of suggestions. I’m a man of my word, and I’ll do what I suggested.
The first half of the day will be spent with some Japanese students, bringing them around some local tourist attractions. Doesn’t sound too bad right? Of course, it would be better if I will be bringing a group of kawaii girls around, but I have this ominous premonition that I would be getting a group of guys. I shall cross my fingers.
My job would probably end sometime in the afternoon. The next half of the day would probably be spent with Miss Playstation3 hacking, slashing and bustering some demonic scums. I’m really hooked onto Devil May Cry 4, especially since I suck at it. My desire to level my demon-slaying skills burns with a flaming passion.
So, how would you spend your Valentine’s Day? Are you going to implement some of the suggestions?
A happy Singles’ Awareness Day to you too.
Watch Eva and Gurren Lagann.
1 episode of Gurren Lagann before at least 2 episodes of Eva, followed by an episode after.
Trust me, you’ll need it.
Damn. looks like we are on the same boat eh? Happy single valentines day to you. XD Im gonna be in school/tuitions throughout the day. XD

if I weren’t working right now, I think I’ll spend my valentine’s day playing otome games or marathoning H&C lol. I actually recommended this as an anime fit for valentine’s, to one of my officemates xD

The number one thing to do on my list is hang out with 4 or 5 of my buddies. Hopefully none of us will end up whining about it like I do every year.
