I’ve always wanted to integrate humor in my style of blogging. Real life is simply too serious, and I really hate serious stuff. Hence, I figured that blogging would be a good channel to release some steam accumulated from real life as well as express myself with a dash of humor.

There are multiple types of humor in blogging, but I decided that I shall mention 3 which I find are worth mentioning.
The most common one would be sarcasm. It has a widespread usage all over the internet. Unfortunately, I suck at utilising it. That’s simply because sarcasm does not translate well over written text, especially over the interwebs. With flamers, trolls and god-knows-what lurking out there, there will definitely a bunch of people who will offended by your sarcasm. Also, let’s not forget those people who are unable to catch what you really mean. To reduce the number of people who have such reactions to your sarcasm, the only way would be to plan and check your writing for any flaws in your sarcasm. I’m lazy, and I can’t possibly live my life on the Internet 24/7, so that isn’t going to work out.
I really admire those people who can utilise this technique of humor of the net to a level above average.
Another humor technique in writing would be sexual humor. I’m not sure how it actually works, since some people can start giggling over the mentioning of appendages and sex. Many out there who use sexual humor are unable to bring it to the next level, and hence, people read their writings for the sexual portions instead of reading for the humor. However, that is not to say that everyone who uses sexual humor sucks. One great example which I enjoyed every single moment reading is Gaijin Smash. Somehow, the writer’s writing make sexual stuff seem funny.
The last way of including humor in your blog would be Lucky-Star type references, together with some parodies. One of the major reasons why Lucky Star has such popularity is due to the frequent references present. I myself am quite a fan of references, even though I dislike Lucky Star. The reason is simple. Although references are good, too much as shown in Lucky Star would be overkill, at least for me.
Since referencing can be rather addictive, I try not to do so unless required. After all, I don’t want myself to commit an overkill.

That’s about all for humor in blogging. I’m sure some of you who read this blog are bloggers, and might have a trick or two up your sleeves as to adding humor into your writing. Feel free to share about it.

So double, what do you I fell over?
I don’t get what you’re asking. LOL.
Humor’s hard to do on the Internet if it’s not meme-related or not in a discussion. I fail at humor outside of RL, so eh.
I am not much of a funny person either.
sarcasm reminds me of darkmirage’s reviews on gundam 00’s episodes. i always has a good laugh reading them. lol (’~')
gordon > Exactly! I was having the same thought when I was writing the part about sarcasm. And when I was writing about the sexual humor part, I was thinking about tj_han’s writing. LOL
