Despite me posting regularly for the past few days, my anime drive has actually dropped to an all low. I’ve lost the raging drive of a young healthy shonen to watch anime.

Currently, I’m only watching a couple of series. Major Season 4 because it’s baseball and the past 3 seasons were tear-jerking. Persona -trinity soul- because of the city covered with snow. Spice and Wolf because there’s some touching on economics. Kaiji because he’s crazy. And finally, Gintama because it makes my day. With only 5 series to catch weekly, I spend very little time on anime, as compared to a month ago. I’m not even motivated to clear my backlogs.
It could be one of those phrases where you suddenly get very tired and uninterested. I guess I could say that there are various issues which might have caused me to unknowingly lose the passion I once had. The thing that once induced my interest in Japan and the language is now something I losing interest in. What irony.

However, I still have the same passion for learning Japanese. Ever since I started lessons, I knew that I was not taking up the language just for the sake of anime and other otaku stuff. I want to be able to converse in the language and get as close as I can to the culture. Japanese culture isn’t all about otaku culture, you know.
Don’t worry though, for as long as any of these 5 seasons continue airing, I will still have contact with anime. As for this blog, even if I run out about anime related posts to blog about, I will continue my posting practices. After all, there are so many other things I can post about, such as Japanese music. I’ve been listening to a rather fresh Jrock band recently, and their music’s rather good. Listen to 9mm Parabellum Bullet if you have a chance.

That’s all for now, I guess.

I watch about… 4 series; Clannad, Shakugan no Shana II, Gintama and Shigofumi. I guess we’re in the same predicament.
I’ll finish all my watched anime and then after that, i’ll probably stop watching (but I guess that won’t come true as in between waiting for my watched anime shows to finish, probably I’d bump into something of interesting shows then another extension.. sheesh…)… but won’t be stop collecting figures..probably.
people go thru different periods of viewing shows, sometimes they go thru tons of shows and other times it seems like there are too many shows.I only watch 3 different shows.I hope you do write about music as well
Every anime watching eventually feels the burn of having watched too much anime. I myself felt that burn quite a long time ago and ended up only watching 1/4 of what I normally did for 2 months. But after that I was back to regular amounts. The other reason would be your tastes in anime has refined as well where you prefer particular series rather than try to watch everything under the sun.
I went through something similar, just recently. It really helps to branch out and step back from anime, IMHO. I think some posts on music would be great.
Shigofumi’s good. And you’re not watching Clannad? I thought you loved well animated shows. The only other one I watch regularly that you don’t is Gundam 00 though I am trying with a couple others.
Sylon Beta > Actually, it’s not about the number of series I’m watching. It’s the lack of motivation. If it was about the number of series, I would be clearing backlogs.
Samejima > I won’t be stopping, but I’ll be slowing down considerably.
Eloy > Look forward to the next post if you’re interested in some Jrock.
Adun > Wow,2 months. I wonder if my burn will last as long as yours.
Caitlin > Recently, I’ve been listening to a few new artistes ^^
Mark > Hmm, maybe I should check out Shingofumi. I don’t really like Clannad, for some reason or another. Gundam 00 got a little boring for me, so I just stopped since I lacked the motivation.
It’s probably temporary. I was frankly sick of anime at a certain point in January, but eventually I started watching it again. Just keep away for a while and return in maybe a couple of weeks (this is what it took me, anyway) or a bit less or more.
I’m watching even less shows… KimiKiss, True Tears, and Persona. Also Shugo Chara from time to time, as well as Mnemosyne. I’m hoping your lack of interest in anime at the moment is simply because of a “Winter’s Block”, which will be thawed by the coming of the Spring 2008 shows ^^
