Now that we all know that the Gurren Lagann Movie is confirmed, here are some really brief updates about it.
Update Number 1 : The movie’s going to be released in Autumn 2008.
That’s fast, I was expecting it to be some time in 2009. Maybe it might clash with Evangelion 2.0, and Gainax would go on a record-breaking milking spree.
Update Number 2: The movie will be original.
That’s right, this means that it isn’t going to be a condensed version of the TV anime series, something that everyone was dreading.
Hmm, I wonder what the movie will be about. I’m guessing that the story will either be long before Kamina and Simon’s time, since I remember that Lord Genome once mentioned that there was another person who was similar to Simon, but existed long before Simon’s time. If this is really true, it would mean the introduction of more new characters, and hence more milking off character goods. That would be so typical of Gainax.
That’s all the news I have of now, but I’m rather sure it will not be long before more gets announced/leaked. Stay tuned!

Or it could be about Kamina’s dad. It’d be something rather appropriate, if pulpy, if the guy Lordgenome mentioned was him. I mean, he had a cape and everything. Capes gotta count for something, right?
If its about the war Lord Genome fought its going to be a depressing show, as we all know they lost big time.

anyhow, the movie will be a two hour long epic tradgedy leading up to simon’s death. rossiu and simon will team up one last time in gurren lagann to defend the earth from something really menacing.
the second season of the television show will be about the cast coping with simon’s death and getting wrapped up in the second spiral war.
