Omiyage From Japan

Here are some of the goodies that my homestay student brought over from Japan.

This is a tea cup for Japanese green tea, but I have not had the chance to unwrap it yet. Or more like I can’t bear to unwrap it. The wrapping is rather intricate and it seems much better left this way, like some how some anime figurines look better in their boxes. Praise has to be definitely given to the Japanese for their uber packaging skills.

Delicious Strawberry Daifuku, direct from Japan! This tastes a zillion times better than Mame Daifuku. Just by comparing the pictures of both of the Daifukus in the 2 posts, you will already know which is superior.

And when you taste it, everything becomes crystal clear. This has definitely got the be the best daifuku I have ever tasted. Or maybe I am plainly bias towards the taste of strawberries, and this being a gift.

And finally, Jam. Sweet strawberry jam. As usual, the packaging’s awesome. I haven’t got the chance to taste it yet, since there’s no bread at home to go with the jam. A good thing that the expiry date’s a rather long time away, so I get to slowly savour the jam.

As for my student’s gift, I gave him a box of pineapple tarts, a packet of BBQ pork, a Singapore mini flag as well as a mini Merlion paperweight.

Nothing really fanciful, but it’s the thought that matters, right?

Ah, ichigo daifuku. I love those; I ate lots of them and brought some back when I was in Japan.

    …Now I’m hungry. Darn.
