Random Weaboo Meets Real Life Kyonko

Or so he claims, although I seriously doubt that any 3D girl would resemble Kyonko, at least not in the campus we’re in. What’s more, he has no pictures, and hence no concrete evidence. He (Don’t let the gender in his forum profile fool you!) has probably been oogling and fapping fantasizing excessively to Kyonko fanart.

Read all about the whole “Densha Otoko”-like scenario here to decide if the 3D Kyonko does exists.

This Is Madness! This Is Evangelion!

The Japanese Otakus have once again proven that they are the Spartans of the consumer world.

The Summer Of Love : Room Of An Otaku

There’s nothing named First Summer of Love, only the Summer of Love and the Second Summer of love, but what the heck, it’s the first even if it doesn’t have First in its name, since it definitely isn’t the third.

Anyway, for those curious as to why I chose this as the title, it’s First because this will be the first year I’m documenting my room for future archive usage, ever since I plunged into the never-ending spiral of anime merchandise purchasing, Summer because it’s so darn hot here in freaking Singapore, and Love because moe… Whatever. Anime references with numbers in them sure aren’t easy to find. And what’s up with this cheesiness?!

Disclaimer : The author is no music buff, but only some geek who can reference to anime that references to the real Summer of Love.

As usual, I shall begin with the typical shot from the door. Click on the pictures for a larger image.

Dengeki Bunko May 2008

There was a Kinokuniya 20% sales for members, so I decided to pop by and grab some reading materials.

I wanted to get the latest Dragon Magazine, but unfortunately, Kinokuniya doesn’t stock it. The other unfortunate thing is that the latest issue of Dragon Age doesn’t contain a new FMP Sigma chapter, so I decided to pass on it. Instead, I purchased a copy of Dengeki Bunko, since there are some nice goodies included with it.

Otaku Consumerism

I’ve taken up Personal Selling as an elective module, and we viewed a brief video clip regarding consumerism today. Despite the points being expressed in simple layman terms, I felt that it was something worth thinking about. As such, I’ve decided to come up with a writeup on consumerism of a group that we all know of. Otakus and anime fans.

I intend to cover on the merchandise aspect, since that’s the thing that drains the most *ka-ching* out of our poor wallets.

In order for the various companies to come up with cash milking merchandise, there’s a need to first understand the otakus behaviour. They have to realise the main source of influence as to why Otakus purchase anime merchandise. There are supposedly 5 main levels of needs that are involved in consumerism. Physiological, Safety, Social, Esteem and Self-actualisation.

Evangelion 1.0 Cells

DVD sales of Evangelion 1.01 began the day before the official date, on 24th April. It seems that the only thing everyone is looking out for are the cells that come with the DVD package. A thread to compile all the various cells has began on a certain Japanese forum.

Triangler And Melissa - Why Do Their Endings Sound Similar?

Just a random thought when I was listening to Sakamoto Maaya’s latest single, Triangler.

triangler.jpg

Listen to the 2 audio samples, with the first being Sakamoto Maaya’s Triangler, Macross Frontier’s OP , and the second being being Porno Graffitti’s Melissa, Full Metal Alchemist’s first OP, and see if you find them somewhat strikingly similar.

Holy Rei!!! Not One But Two Evangelion Cafes!!!

In a few more hours, the Evangelion Cafe lives again! This time, it’s back back with more A.T. fields and N2 mines.

meido_rei.jpg

Both Cure Maid Cafe and Pasela Akihabara will be transformed into Nerv’s canteen(do they even have one?). Cure Maid Cafe will have Eva Cosplay Costumes on display (will the meidos be wearing them? I want Rei to serve me!), while Pasela Akihabara will have the Evangelion-themed karaoke. Otakus are definitely suckers for being served by their favourite characters, and karaoke’s Japan’s national past time, so I reckon that most otakus will be raiding both meido cafes faster than how Asuka’s Unit 02 rapes the mass-production units.

Anniversary Of Furu Anime Panikku - The First Impact

Wow, time really passes in a flash. It feels like only a couple of months since I started, but on the same date exactly a year ago, I started my blog hosted by wordpress. Starting an anime blog was somewhat on impulse and I wasn’t really thinking much about the future of this blog. I eventually got my own domain and hosting in December. That was another impulsive decision, one that struck my mind while I was idling in class. I seem to have a thing for sudden decisions.

I’ve Always Wonder How It Feels To Be A Resident Of Akihabara

On our last day in Japan, we headed to Akihabara for a last stroll before departing for the airport. With no purchasing intention of any sort, we combed the streets armed with our cameras. All the photos I took aren’t of any importance, since you’ve probably seen various photos of the otaku areas in Akihabara all over the interwebs.

Apartments in the Otaku’s Holy Land

This was the only photo that started me thinking about how it would feel to live in an apartment in Akihabara, probably just a lane away from all the treasures.
