Once again, Windbell and I made a trip to Ueno. This time, it wasn’t for karaoke. It was to take a look at the cherry blossoms that have bloomed in Ueno Park. It was my first Hanami experience, so I was really looking forward to it. This will be another mass photo spam post, since there is no other way better to express the beauty of the Sakuras.
Click on the photos for a clearer and larger view. The thumbnails are blurrish >_<

This final photo reminds me of Honey and Clover
I had a really fun time walking a whole round in Ueno park snapping various photos, although seeing all the couples walking around lovingly in the park made me feel very slightly envious. Now there’s one more thing to add to my list of things to do before I die. Number 34 : Go on a date in a Japanese park during the period in spring when Sakuras bloom.
My pictures all look rather sucky. I’m not sure if the problem lies with me or my camera. I think the fault lies with both factors, and I should level up my photography skills as well as start saving up for a decent camera, preferably a DSLR. I’m interested in taking up photography as a hobby, but currently the best I have is a CASIO EX-Z850, a compact camera. The macro function sucks, so I can’t do any proper figurine photo shoots with it.Playing around a little with Windbell’s DSLR was rather enriching. I learned some basic stuff about photography such as the ISO, shutter speed and some stuff about the various lenses.
Today, we went to another park near Harujuku which had blooming Sakuras too. Freaking Dreamhost has a loading speed which even a snail would put to shame, so I’m still thinking if I should cram all the photos of Shinjuku and Byousoku 5cm in real life, Yoyogi park, and Shibuya together, or if I should separate them for easy reading and faster loading. Any suggestions on which would be better?
That bird is most definitely not a duck. I forgot what it was called too. One of those lake dwellers or something.
Were there any street performers? There was this awesome guitarist when I went last year. LOL.
Looks like you went in through a different entrance from the one I went in - looks a whole lot more tranquil, with the pond and everything!
Hmmm, maybe you should separate them?
All the yummy food .. Hoshi!
that bird looks like a seagull. (maybe). (’~')
the bird is a gull, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herring_Gull
in Japanese “Kamome” desu yo. Enjoy your staying this beautiful time of Spring!
Panther, gordon > Looks like we’ve got the answer already.
Soshi > I was unlucky that I didn’t see any street performers. I saw a group in Sapporo before, and their music was awesome!
alafista > Yup, the food’s great. Makes me want to live in Japan for life!
tomoko > Thanks for telling everyone what that bird is. And the party at Egg’s Farm was really nice. Thanks =)
one more note, that religious something is actually, uhm, an restaurant, a famous and one of these old restaurant that introduce western cuisine to modern Japan. http://www.seiyoken.co.jp
tomoko > Ah, I didn’t expect that to be a famous restaurant. I’m guessing that the food isn’t going to be cheap.
