I like Kaiji but I find that each 'task' doesn't really get interesting till near the end where he actually comes up with some unique ideas. The ending of the first season has been really disappointing. They're playing a lucky dip with a bunch of tissue paper and since he's not a relatable character, I don't really care if he loses all of his money and four fingers.. It is not known by many, but Akagi's character originally appeared in a different manga by the author. There it is explained what Akagi is doing in his old age.
