Finally, at long last. The 12th Detective Conan movie that Conan fans have all been waiting for.
Unlike the Bleach movie last year where posters were all over the walls of shops such as Animate, there wasn’t much promotion for the movie going on when I was in Japan during the first week of April. Just some chirashii giveaways in the Tokyo Animation Center and some mini posters at the counters of 7-11s. I guess Conan’s popularity and fanbase has warrant such inactive promotion. The producers know that people will watch it anyway, so what’s the point in wasting money for promotions?
Detective Conan has been running for almost 13 years, and Conan has played the role of an ambassador for countless campaigns. He’s enjoying probably half of Doraemon’s popularity, probably since the cat with no ears began years earlier. His popularity will continue to grow as long as the series continues, although I doubt that the storyline will go on for much longer, especially since there are rumors that Aoyama Goushou plans to end it soon.
The theme song 翼を広げて is by ZARD. In 1993, Zard penned the lyrics of the song for DEEN. I’m guessing that people are going to shed tears as they listen to the song being played in the ending credits. I would.
As much as I desire to catch this movie in theatres, I am physically unable to do so. Looks like I’ll have to wait for another half a year or so when the movie gets rented out onto DVD or VHS tape (I wonder why the hell the Japan’s still using VHS when there’s already bluray).

Hmm, he’ll probably appear in the flashback, or for some reason or another, Conan reverts to his old self just for this movie, just like he did in the 7th movie.

Oh my god, I wish I knew Japanese becase I’d live there just to watch Detective Conan movies! I wish America wasn’t stupid and had a bigger fanbase for Case Closed so they would start publishing the 100s-500s episodes! I’ve watched so many Detective Conan episodes and movies that I just don’t know how I’d survive without it!
