Triangler And Melissa - Why Do Their Endings Sound Similar?

Just a random thought when I was listening to Sakamoto Maaya’s latest single, Triangler.

Listen to the 2 audio samples, with the first being Sakamoto Maaya’s Triangler, Macross Frontier’s OP , and the second being being Porno Graffitti’s Melissa, Full Metal Alchemist’s first OP, and see if you find them somewhat strikingly similar.

Triangler - Sakamoto Maaya

Melissa - Porno Graffitti

I’m not trying to hint anything here, but I just thought Triangler sounded familiar on the first hearing, that’s all. What do you think?

They do sound a bit similar - some kind of short short long short and a similar spacing of notes.

This was something that actually popped into my head when I first listened to the song myself. Nice to know someone else had that idea as well. :3

There were some speculations that Yoko Kanno (the composer of Triangler whom most of us know) has some tendencies to plagiarize works. You can find a series of comparisons at:

So I think perhaps the same thing happened with Triangler as well.
