This happened to be my first Amazon Japan order using my own money, and also the biggest package I received from Amazon Japan too.
Before this, I had to approach my parents each time I wanted something from an online store. It was really inconvenient, especially since there was the possibility of them rejecting, saying “Didn’t you just order something recently?”
A peek at the loot right after the break.
The other stuff at the bottom are 4 copies of Shonen Rival’s May and June 2008 respectively. That’s a total of 8 monthly serialisation magazines. Of course, those aren’t mine. A classmate of mine who’s a huge fan of Monster Hunter got another 3 of his friends to place orders, since there are a whole lot of Monster Hunter goodies included with each copy. Some stuff like collectible coins and whatnot. Monster Hunter fans should check it out too.
In the beginning, I had no intention of grabbing that Girlfriend of Steel visual guide, but I grabbed it anyway since the shipping was going to be shared among 5 people. Apparently, it was a bad choice, since that visual guide turned out to be some leftover stock hidden deep in Amazon Japan’s warehouse. The condition of the book is horrible, with scratches and yellow spots all over the cover. To think I’m paying a price for a brand new one. Curse you Amazon Japan!
Thankfully, the manga came in fine. Hurray for High School of the Dead. Still, I’m pissed off.
Anyway, this is bad. It could just sign of impending financial doom. I need a money god desperately.

Hahahaha, the woe of spending. I am glad that I am not stung by such a dangerous hobby.
DAMN YOU…!!! You have Vol. 4 of 学園黙示録, which is unavailable at the time I ordered with a certain Japanese bookstore. Cursed you, I’ll git’cha for dat!
Indeed, financial doom: which is exactly why I am in NS.
double, didn’t u posted an article on impulse buying not long ago?
Your post on curbing impulsive buying is teh phail. Let’s get broke together!
Impz > You’re lucky.
TP > Why was it unavailable?
gordon > I did. But the purpose was to rant about how difficult it is to curb impulse purchasing.
The Sojourner > ORZ
Just curious but how much was the shipping for a box that size?
5800 yen. 1900 yen’s the basic amount, followed by an additional 300 yen per item. Shipping’s a killer, I tell you.
yeh, our MH package is here. thanks for your help! ^^
Welcome to the world of debit cards. Been using it for a few years now.
You, my friend, are doomed. I bid you welcome to the world of otakuism-induced penury.
I haven’t ordered anything from Amazon Japan in over a year, mainly due to the sky-high shipping costs. They used to offer a more wallet-friendly alternative - international economy shipping - which actually made it rather affordable to order low-end goods like books and magazines, but that option has now been removed and it’s priority courier service all the way.
Be careful where you flash that piece of plastic - I’ve had one since high school and I’ve since been watching my money drain away into four Amazon branches in different parts of the globe (the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Japan) plus a host of other shopping websites. Having a card does make it so much easier to fall into destitution, doesn’t it?
Gexgar > No problem.
Panther > Have you fallen into financial destitution yet?
Diego > Yea, the temptation is always there >_>
