I have this habit which grew onto me ever since I learned that Gainax updates their website’s main page every Saturday with a new image. In the past, it used to be stuff like Evangelion, FLCL and some other Gainax productions, but recently, it’s been a whole string of Gurren Lagann images for weeks.
The images are original unpublished art, so I figured that starting a collection of them would be a good idea. After all, majority of the art is quite interesting and pleasing to the eyes, such as the image above. Gurren sure can rock!
Once again, it’s Saturday and I paid my usual visit. This time, I got quite a shock of my life.
I had to think for a couple of seconds before I realised who this actually was. Nia from Gurren Lagann, and possibly the most unsightly Nia I’ve ever seen. And to think that’s art done by the artists working with Gainax. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who finds this Nia disturbing.
Oh well, crap and weird stuff happens once in a while. Let’s look forward, hoping that Gainax makes it up to their website visitors with their upcoming image next week.
Haha I used to do that back in ‘03 where all their images were mostly from mahoromatic, abenobashi, FLCL, Eva and Puchi Puri Yusshi or w/e
The Gainax top page images aren’t necessarily by Gainax artists. They’re gift-art. If you go to the “Toppage gallery”, there will be links to the original artsts’ home-pages.

that image of nia is indeed very disturbing. i must now go watch some some nice idols’ pic to make me forget.
