Eva-01 Entry Plug

I’ve never really heard of a figurine company named Aoshima until I saw this.

I asked around and soon learned from Shiawasekun that Aoshima was acutally dealing mostly in the car model industry, and the Haruhi itasha model was actually done by them.

At a length of 50cm, this entry plug is priced at 8190 yen and scheduled for release in late July 2008. The price seems rather reasonable for something so huge, and the details appear to be quite intricate too. This is definitely something I would want to get.

If you thought that the size and the quality of the paint job is all there is to marvel over, wait up. There’s more than just that.

Opening the plugsuit reveals the cooldere pilot. The details inside of the entry plug and of the mini Rei aren’t as elaborate as compared to the outer surface of the entry plug itself, but still, you would have to agree that Aoshima has done a fairly satisfying job. Kudos to them.

There’s one problem now. As stated, Aoshima isn’t a very well-known company for figurines, so half of me is doubting that local shops will be bringing this piece of art in. If they don’t, I probably have to order this online, but the shipping cost is definitely going to kill me, considering the size and weight of the entire thing.

You can view more photos of this figurine over at GA Graphics. Man, I love that site. They always cover stuff that other sites never ever cover. GA Graphics banzai!

Upon second thought, Eva’s entry plugs appear to be very phallic in origin.

I know there is something deeply philosophical about a phallic object with Rei in it…but what the heck, it looks awesome.
