I’ve finally completed all 338 chapters of this high school baseball series, and it was certainly worth my time, even if it meant pushing back my assignments for a couple of days.

As usual, Adachi Mitsuru doesn’t disappoint with his usual style that remains the same from Miyuki. Chapters that begin with random sceneries, cold/lame humor that for some reason or another I find funny, and very simple clean art.
Here’s a sum up of the story with all the nitty gritty filtered out.

For my past few trips in Japan, I’ve noted a Japanese habit each time I enter a bookstore or stroll past the convenience store’s reading material section. It seems that browsing through reading materials free of charge, followed by placing them back on the shelves instead of buying them is a national habit. That being said, I’m in no way against that habit. In fact, I would very much like to have such a habit too, but the thing that stops me from developing such a habit are the “No browsing” signs all over the magazine sections in local stores.
I’ve digressed too much from the purpose of this post.

Anyway, it seems that the Japanese have brought this habit to the interwebs too. HERE, you can browse through 30 out of 400 pages of the newly released Evangelion 1.0 Complete Work Records that costs more than 10,000 yen.

Finally, I’ve managed to get this site back up after yesterday’s problem with the database after the Wordpress upgrade. It could have been up much earlier if I had FTP access in school like I used to, but it appears that the network administrators have blocked FTP access ever since the new semester began.

Regular posting will begin tomorrow, since I’m a little to lazy to write anything now. As for today, I shall complete the last few chapters of H2. It’s really awesome like Major, so it’ll be worth your time if you like baseball manga.
Let’s just hope the connection speeds don’t revert back to their sloth forms.

Lately, the connection speeds to this website has been really pathetic, often resulting in timeouts. I can’t even connect to the dashboard, or for that matter, anything hosted on the same server. This really sucks, and my mood to blog has been more or less killed by the connection speed.

I have this habit which grew onto me ever since I learned that Gainax updates their website’s main page every Saturday with a new image. In the past, it used to be stuff like Evangelion, FLCL and some other Gainax productions, but recently, it’s been a whole string of Gurren Lagann images for weeks.

The images are original unpublished art, so I figured that starting a collection of them would be a good idea. After all, majority of the art is quite interesting and pleasing to the eyes, such as the image above. Gurren sure can rock!
Once again, it’s Saturday and I paid my usual visit. This time, I got quite a shock of my life.

This happened to be my first Amazon Japan order using my own money, and also the biggest package I received from Amazon Japan too.

Before this, I had to approach my parents each time I wanted something from an online store. It was really inconvenient, especially since there was the possibility of them rejecting, saying “Didn’t you just order something recently?”
A peek at the loot right after the break.

Look who’s gracing the DVD cover of the regular version of Evangelion 1.0.

Due to the limited edition being sold out almost everywhere, fanboys and girls who missed out on the limited edition but want a copy of Evangelion 1.0 have no choice but to purchase the regular edition, no matter what the cover is. Hence, there’s no doubt that preorder sales has been excellent for the regular version, with it holding 9th position on Amazon’s DVD sales ranking. Still, much more can be improved.
Here’s how:

I was browsing through LifeHacker and I came across this rather interesting article regarding a 100 dollar-a-day rule to prevent impulse purchasing.
For every $100 that I want to spend on the purchase of a new product, I must wait one day before I make the purchase. This creates a self-imposed ‘cooling-off’ period.
It sounded quite useful, so I decided to put some further thought, thinking through how I can utilise this strategy to curb my purchasing habits. After much thought,I realised I couldn’t do so for my otaku purchases.
