2006 Japan Photos : Hokkaido And The Snow

Just when I thought that I had lost them for good when my previous computer died out without me backing up any data, I realised that there was another copy of these images in my parents’ computer. My mum must have backed it up.

Back then, I have not began blogging, so I didn’t really have a space to upload and archive my pictures. However, since I have a blog now, I figured that I might as well do the archiving here, since this is related to Japan.

Anyway, it was quite a memorable trip, since it was the first time I went overseas with a friend instead of my family. Our whole trip spanned for 2 weeks in the middle of December, and we went downwards from Hokkaido towards Tokyo.

We spent more than a week in Hokkaido, moving from hotel to hotel every few days.

白い恋人 (White Lovers) Chocolate Factory

Eyecandy

One of those places where something gets done to the chocolate

The chocolate factory even has a football field

The place where we made out chocolate biscuits

The factory has a mini toy museum too

The clock tower that chimes at noon and other special timings.

SNOW!!!

Some place near the mountains. Snow’s awesome as usual

Taisetsuzan. An awesome place to chill out

A view from the cable car

Breathtaking View 2

Asahiyama Zoo

Inside the Zoo

Happy Feet

The crowd’s amazed with the birdies that never strayed off their assigned pathway

Some public lighting displays in Sapporo

Hakodate

Take the cable car up to the mountains for a scenic view of the town

The following 2 pictures aren’t taken in Hokkaido, but at Mount Zao. Awesome Ski escape, some place that I would definitely want to visit multiple times.

Snowy trees

My favourite photo out of all the mountain shots

That’s all for all the snowy images. I actually took more than 100 hundred shots, but my photography skills 2 years ago sucked balls, so nearly 80% came out blur. If I ever have the chance, I would like to visit Northern Japan during winter again.

Next up, Nagoya and Hakone. I love Hakone, and it’s definitely one of the must-visit places in Japan. Stay tuned.

  1. 1 C.I.

The final photo was plain frickin’ epic. Awesome shot.

  2. 2 Stifler

Agreed. The last picture is awesome. It reminds me of the 12 Apostles, except that those are trees.

    Sad girls in snow, anyone?

  3. 3 A Day Without Me

These pictures are lovely! I’ve always wanted to go to Hokkaido.

  4. 4 Panther

Lol Stifler I had the same thought when I saw them.

SNOW!!! PENGUINS!!! *is rendered unable to say anything else*

  6. 6 Teeif

Hey! That’s not what the town looked like to me in Noien, where’s the giant ring gone?
    :P

  7. 7 Caitlin

Great pictures…I love 白い恋人, especially the regular chocolate ones.

  8. 8 Shin

Would have loved to visit Area 11 back then in the winter, but being dangerously skinny meant I wouldn’t have lasted for even 5 minutes D:

C.I., Stifler, A Day Without Me, Panther > Thanks. The last shot was the only one that I was really pleased with. The rest were really crappy.

issa-sa > You love snow too?

Teeif > Welcome to the 3D world.

Caitlin > Yup, too bad it’s only sold in Hokkaido, though Narita Airport does occasionally stock it.

Shin > Don’t worry, I’m really skinny too. Back in 2006, I was less than 40kg.
