And the gayest too. Here, I present to you the homosexual angel who tried to seduce our manly Evangelion 01 pilot. Oops, did I just say manly?
I bought this figurine thinking that it was supposed to be an installment of the Kotobukiya Evangelion series that had Rei and Misato in it. However, in actual fact, Kaworu isn’t part of that figurine series. Logically speaking, how could he be? The 2 characters are females, while I’m not even sure what this guy’s sexuality is.
I lie.
It’s actually the box packaging that differentiates Kaworu from the previous 2 lasses. Also, Rei’s and Misato’s scaled 1/6, while Kaworu’s non-scaled.
Like Soshi has stated before, Kaworu’s face appears slightly different from various angles.
Look! In the first 2 images, it appears that he’s smiling. In the third, however, it appears that he isn’t. Strange…
One thing I like about this figurine is how the texture of certain parts display themselves. The statue appears as though it’s made of real eroded rock. But that’s not the best part.
Kaworu’s best physical trait is his fluffy silver hair, which is possibly why Shinji almost rerouted his sexual orientation. When looking at straight at this figurine, it really seems as though his hair isn’t plastic, but real fluff. However, if you look at it from the side, it’s no longer the case. I wonder how does Kotobukiya embed it with the mystical power of playing tricks on one’s eyes.

Let’s observe a moment of silence for the poor feline.

The statue base has earned itself a solo photo

In case you were wonder how Kaworu sits on the statue, here’s the answer.
Overall, I found this figurine to be of rather decent quality. Still, I might not have bought it if I knew that it wasn’t in the same line of release as Rei and Misato, since it’s really small for its price. I’m thinking it’s slightly smaller than 1/10, and paying 5040 yen for such a minature piece is quite a rip-off. Still, fangirls would definitely get this, since there’s a lack of Kaworu figurines out in the figurine market. On the other hand, if this was Shinji, I am absolutely certain that Kotobukiya would make a loss.
The figurine aside, this photoshoot was done without any proper set up, since I lacked the equipment. The table was blue, so I used a white towel to hide it. I really need to get one of those lamps and some other proper equipment to create a decent background. Still, I’m quite satisfied with some of the pictures. For my next photoshoot, I shall try it outdoors.
To sum things up:
+ Nice hair
+ Decent facial scuplt
+ Unique base concept
- TOO SMALL!!!
- Males who buy this mightwill be looked upon as Kaworu clones
P.S. I’m not a Kaworu clone.
