Singapore in Lupin III

The latest Lupin III special, Sweet Lost Night, happens to have the story set in a tropical island the size of a tiny dot on the equator of the world’s map. Now, this miniature sunny islet has been featured a couple of times in fictional media. Cowboy Bebop has a Singaporean bounty hunter, and the last installment of Pirates of the Caribbean portrays Singapore as a pirate island.

Welcome to Singapore

This time in Lupin III, the portrayal is rather amusing, considering that some portions were actually decently featured.

Some Highschool of the Dead News Updates

In the latest issue of Dragon Age, there is news of a new figurine of Miyamoto Rei by Organic and the release date of the 5th volume.

In case the image above isn’t clear enough for you, it states that this Rei’s going to be roughly 1/8 scaled, scheduled for release this Autumn, and that the price has yet to be fixed.

Dragon Age August 2008

Finally, Kinokuniya brought in the latest issue of Dragon Age. I actually made a 45 minute trip down last Saturday only to find out that the shipment was delayed >_> To make the most out of my trip, I bought something to read on the way back. That meant more cash spent. Not good at all.

I went down again today to grab Dragon Age the day stock arrives, as it always seems to run out unusually quick.

Watching Alone?

A classmate of mine brought up a thought-worthy point when he mentioned that he was going to watch a movie alone. Mind you, it’s not because he’s lonely. He has a girlfriend and a social life that 99% of the otaku population lack.

My first reaction was to ask him why he was going alone. He replied that there isn’t any point going to the movies in a group, since no one starts discussions halfway during the movie. Hence, watching alone and watching with 30 other people makes no difference. You’ll still be doing the same thing.

Anime Deprivation

I just realised that I’ve only watched 2.5 episodes of anime this week. That’s like almost an all-time low record, or maybe it really is.

The Empire of The Rising Sun Lacks This Unit in Red Alert 3

After reading this, I came to the conclusion that Red Alert 3 is unbalanced. The Empire of the Rising Sun’s arsenal of wimpy weapons just isn’t enough to take on the likes of the manly Soviets or Allies. Not with the overly feminine Yuriko Omega or brainless King Onis. Let’s not forget the Jet Tengus who can’t do shit without pop songs and love triangles.

Also, if you take a look at the faction page, you will notice that the Soviets and the Allies have a current total of 21 units each, while the Rising Sun only has 20. What’s up with this nonsensical foul play?

As such, to balance the battlefield, I propose an entry for the 21st unit, which I shall bestow the name of Galaxy Drill.

Japan Collage

I handed in this photoshop assignment a month ago, and I just got it back together with my grade recently. The assignment was a collage, and we had to use original sketches or photos to create it. Back then, I did not have many other photos other than my recent trip to Japan in April on hand, and I didn’t have the time to go about taking new photos too. Hence, I used those images of my trip in the collage, partially because the  Japanophile within me desires to.

Lost+Brain : A Death Note Copycat

I really wished that Lost+Brain sprung up earlier on the time line before Death Note. Who can deny that hypnosis is definitely a more stylish way to take over the world, one person at a time, as compared to some lame notebook which falls from the sky?

Respectable Scums

Everyone in Black Lagoon’s stained, Rock too. Even so, there are characters who I think deserve the respect.

It seems that apart from Balalaika and Mr Chang, nearly the rest of Roanapur has lost even the slightest sense of chivalry.

Want To Quit Being A Weaboo?

Inspired by a classmate of mine, who I shall conveniently name Leeroy, here’s a method which just might work.

Here’s a quote from his mini “recruitment drive”:

Join the dance club, it’s really fun! When you go for club activities, you don’t have to do a single thing and the girls will approach you, asking you to play the role of their dance partner.
