If you listened to the entire single release of Toshokan Sensou’s OP, Atashi no Machi, Ashita no Machi, you would have noticed that there was a B-side named mother’s car. I never paid much attention to it as it was the least catchy tune out of all the 3 songs.

However, after I read the latest entry on Takahashi Hitomi’s blog, I realised that the song might just have a link to her life.
今まで秘密基地はお母さんの車の中だったから
新しい秘密基地がほしいんだ私だけをかくまってくれる世界。
This is quoted directly out of her post. Here’s a translation for those who are totally clueless to the moon runes.
Until now, my secret base was my mother’s car
Hence, I desire a new secret base
A world that shelters only me.
This explains the title of the song, and probably the meaning to it too.
Somehow, I find that I can somewhat relate to what she wrote. I’m sure many out there do too. After all, who doesn’t long for a personal comfort zone which one can step back in to once in a while?
I like it when celebrities, be it big or small time, blog in a personal way. From how I see it, many other popular celebrities who have blogs are just blogging for the sake of entertaining their fans. In other words, superficial blogging with no real emotions. I like bloggers who personalise their entries with their thoughts and emotions, and apparently, that’s lacking a whole lot in celebrity blogs which have been the boom. This is why reading blogs of artistes who don’t have the word POPULAR with the caps retained attached to their name is interesting and worth the time, even though I take ages to finish reading a short post written in Japanese.
Anyway, this post isn’t of any importance, but do take some time off to listen to mother’s car if you’ve yet to do so.

Hm, I haven’t given the single a listen to yet, ’cause I STILL am hooked on the ED.
I shall go find eet nao.
I agree it was the least catchy tune, but wow.. I never even thought that it would have such meaning.
Thanks for sharing.
