Since my computer’s in my bedroom and it’s on most of the time, I’ve this habit of queuing a long playlist and starting the playback just before I retire for the night. This probably explains why my power supply unit blew up a couple of months back.

So far, I’ve tried out different kinds of songs, but as I’m quite a light sleeper, BGMs are the only one that can successfully get me to dreamland. Most of the songs with vocals in them often keep me awake instead, and I end up sleeping even later than I should have.
Ranking first on my bedtime playlist is the Byousoku 5cm original soundtrack. It’s soothing and helps me get to sleep faster, which is particularly useful for times where I’m feeling a little worn out mentally. Usually, I add the Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho soundtrack to the playlist too. Tenmon really has a talent for emotional instrumental pieces, and I’m really looking forward to his future work.
Occasionally, I switch to the Final Fantasy Piano Collections, covering VIII, IX and X. Although it’s not under the category of anime, it’s still melodious to the human auditory system. I’ve yet to play any of the games which have their soundtracks featured in this collection, so I should really try to do so sometime soon. My favourite out of the collection is FFX. Somehow, the tunes are really catchy, but such tunes aren’t exactly good for getting some eyeshut. Therefore, I always end up shuffling and repeating the entire playlist. Random is always good.
I’m not much of a soundtrack listener since I often go for the tunes with vocals instead, only saving those without them for bedtime playlists. I’ve tried some of the Ghost in the Shell tracks, but those are meant for playlists for sports such as jogging. I’m too much of a lazy ass to do so though.

This would be a soothing, relaxing dream
Anyone out there who has yet another strange habit of mine? If so, feel free to recommend good bedtime tracks. It’s always better to have increased diversity.
And in case anyone was wondering, this post is somewhat a complimenting entry to the alarm ringtone post I wrote e-donkey years ago. I wonder if anyone still remembers that, or if it’s long lost in the abyss of the archives.

Shiro Sagisu’s Good or Don’t Be is a wonderful bedtime track.
I listen to classical versions of X Japan’s songs before I sleep and use the rock versions as an alarm ^^;
I doze off listening to “ARIA Piano Collection Stagione”. I don’t need anything else! ^_^ I let it run all the way ’till I wake up, that’s when I hear “Gekijouban CLANNAD’s Soundtrack” or “ef -a tale of memories Original Soundtrack” {espressivo or fortissimo} depending on the time I wake up! >_>
I too don’t have much Soundtracks, but I recommend those three if you want some good sleep.
I love Ryou Kunihiko’s works for the anime “Victorian Romance Emma”. The Air and Mushishi OSTs are also pretty good (Mushishi’s BMGs are especially good to calm yourself down before bed).
I second both Victorian Romance Emma and the ARIA piano collection, I use both to get to sleep. ^_^ My favourite anime soundtrack to go to sleep to is for Haibane Renmei (Kou Otani). Nothing loud, just good, soothing music.
I sleep to Key soundtracks. The peaceful tunes usually get me over to dreamland, and sometimes ef. Maybe I should try out ARIA or 5cm per Second sometime.
It seems like the popular ones are ARIA and ef. I’ve yet to watch either of the animes, but given the chance, I would like to watch ARIA after hearing all the pleasant stuff about it.
ARIA is very slow moving. The soundtrack are good lullaby
I sleep to JAM PROJECT. Actually, music of any kind keeps me awake.
try playing bah bah black sheep 100 times, i think you might fall asleep.
note: Beware of night meh meh
Gunslinger Girl’s TEMA is pretty relaxing… though probably a bit too musically powerful for sleep. I listen to Voices of a Distant Star’s OST (Battle theme and Through the Years and Far Away removed) when I have problems sleeping, works like a charm.
I listen to Final Fantasy soundtrack to made me fall asleep when I can’t sleep but for somehow it’s working anymore ^^”
whops!! i forgot to put “not” between “it’s” and “working” >.<”
