Bah. And to think I was so certain that it is going to be released this year. I’m guessing there was some sort of a delay in the production schedule due to some problems. Either that or Anno Hideaki and gang are goofing around. Stop slacking around already!
Let’s hope the movie will be released by the early Spring. An earlier date would be even better.
As for my information sources, they’re here and here. I’m not too sure about the first site, but I frequent the second as it provides quite some fan coverage of Evangelion and other Gainax stuff.
It seems to me like Gainax are trying to milk each film for every single penny they’re worth. I’ve been enjoying the Kara no Kyoukai movies as much as (perhaps more than) I enjoyed 1.01 and they look set to release the 5th and 6th films within a year of the first one - almost 6 hours worth. Two years for each Rebuild movie is fairly over-the-top.. especially considering they’re continuous so don’t work as well stand-alone.

Now that was my fanboy side speaking. On a more serious note, I’d actually prefer to give them time. Sometimes it’s good to take things slow. Deadlines can fck shit up.
Mark > It’s not Gainax that’s holding the film back. It’s Anno and Khara. Gainax is just like the publishing company, while Anno and gang are the authors. There can’t be any releases if there’s no completed work.
As for the 3rd and 4th Rebuild movies, they’re supposed to be released together, or so I’ve heard.

@double: I’ve seen rushed deadlines ruin many a good game and movie, so here’s praying I don’t see a repeat of that with Evangelion.
According to one of the links you provided, the official EV homepage hasn’t actually made an official announcement for the release date, so there’s still a small chance that it might be released earlier, we can only hope. :]
If there’s no announcement by this September, then a 2009 release is certain. I hope Anno and gang take us by a pleasant surprise.
