Besides Macross Frontier and Code Geass, I’ve not been watching any other anime, be it currently running or long completed. My anime drive has died down considerably, possibly due to fatigue from work and other factors. It’s no wonder why it’s been ages since I last wrote a post related to anime.

Hence, when tj han mentioned Xam’d in one of his 5-minute written rants about how crappy the current season anime is, I decided to give it a try. After all, his taste in anime and mine seem to be pretty similar, judging from recommendations from his posts in the past.
I was hooked.
The first thing about Xam’d that caught my interest was the opening theme song. I simply have to listen to it each time I start on a new episode. The rhythm’s really catchy, and although the lyrics isn’t anything to flaunt about, it’s definitely much better than Red Fraction’s engrish. The OP’s suitable in the sense where it hypes up the viewer for the action following it the moment the anime begins. Sadly, I can’t say that the ED impressed me much.
Xam’d starts off interestingly well, and continues on with a pace that doesn’t bore. As tj han has mentioned, there are many striking similarities between Xam’d and Eureka Seven. I found Eureka Seven’s pace decent and never I found myself bored for a single moment while watching it. The same goes for Xam’d.
Besides pacing, it’s great to see more Nirvash lookalikes. I loved the Eureka Seven Mecha designs, which in my opinion, are one of the top few mecha designs in the anime world. It’s so much more unique than the V-crowns.
I’m currently at episode 7, and I’m getting the same feeling that I had when I was marathoning Eureka Seven. It’s awesome, and my anime-deprived self doesn’t feel as bad as it used to feel now. Thank you BONES, you’re made of pure win.

BONES indeed is god.
Hey it took me longer than 5 mins ok.
Watching it reminded me of Eureka Seven so much.
LONG LIVE BONES /o/ *hail*
Interesting…Since both tj and you, double, liked it, I think I would give it a shot.
tj han > But LianYL once wrote that you take 5 minutes for the short posts. He must be wrong then, lol.
bk201 > And that’s good.
mellow_bunny > ALL HAIL BONES!
Stifler > Glad to see that you might have a similar taste in anime too.
The mecha designs are quite nice, I love the organic look to them. Kind of reminds me a little of the production sketches for the live action Eva.
My buddies and I have a weekly get together to watch this and play M:tG, it’s always nice having some fellow nerds to geek with.
I’ve got the opening theme on my playlist, for some reason it is qutie catchy. I haven’t been that way with an opening or closing in awhile.
I expect good things from this series with how Bones’ other ones have gone. This seems to be a different flare that the mecha genre needs, it had been stagnating before the last year or two.
Xam’d ain’t mecha.
Anyway, I agree that Xam’d is good. Been watching it myself, up till episode 9.
Hm. I liked the ED but only by itself. A bit too much focus on Nakiami since I’m a Haru fan. But yea, Xam’d is the top anime this season.
Eureka Seven = <3
I really like Eureka Seven. The mecha design its very cool and characteristic. (ES in one of my fav series)…
Eureka 7 meets Nausicaa XD
but, ye. Xam’d is very good.
It’s been a while since I’ve been on here but I have to wonder how you could possibly miss Xam’d for this long. It’s BONES as well as considered the best show that started this season.
>>Besides Macross Frontier and Code Geass, I’ve not been watching any other anime
Not even Soul Eater? I may even be enjoying it more than Xam’d at the moment. I find it hard to believe someone could list Macross F but forget that. ^^;
My PC’s been screwed for a few weeks so I’m only watching shows I can play on my PS3 relatively hassle-free (Xam’d, Soul Eater and Code Geass) but luckily they happen to be my favorites so it doesn’t bother me.
I’ve pretty much been watching whatever anime I could get ahold of for the PSP so I’ve finally watched the adaptions of Death Note and Claymore which I thought were good. Having read the L arc of the manga at least two times (but not actually getting much further) I think I enjoyed the latter arc more than many other people seem to have although I hated the ending.
>>Hence, when tj han mentioned Xam’d in one of his 5-minute written rants about how crappy the current season anime is
What. Clearly he hasn’t checked out much as there’s just as many good shows as last season. As well as Xam’d and Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, there’s also Natsume Yuujinchou, Slayers Revolution and Ryoko’s Case File all on the well-worth watching list. Mahou Tsukai–Natsu no Sora seems good if you like slow relaxing anime, I’ve heard ZnT s3 is a lot better than season 2 and Strike Witches can be enjoyable depending on your tastes.
Add to that the continuations of Soul Eater, Code Geass R2 and Macross Frontier and you have a nice number of quality titles each week. Considering I haven’t tried any anime other than the above and none are bad, there may even be more good shows.
Sorry for yet another overly long comment. ;P
I was actually watching Soul Eater till episode 12 or 13, then I don’t know what happened, and I started lagging behind and eventually, I stopped. I think I’ll pick it up again some time in the near future though.
Senti > I have no idea why some people think that Xam’d is mecha. It’s totally different!
Alot of it depends on your definition of mecha, not all renditions of a piloted suit have been purely mechanical. I probably need to get ahold of my friend in Japan and see if he can get me the whole series of Xam’d since I’ve been watching the English release.
Being a little nit-picky I guess but a little explanation of my views was needed.
@ Gyffes, cept Xam’d come out in america before it did in japan so America is actually ahead of Japan for once
