In Tokyo

After riding trains for almost 8 hours, I’ve finally made it from the south to Tokyo. The first thing I did after checking into the hostel was to head down to Akihabara for dinner and a little shopping. I had dinner, and literally did a little shopping.

I first headed for the few usual spots, Gamers, Animate and Toranoana. I’m not sure if it was the chilly wet weather, the fact that I’m only in Tokyo for the first day, or that I’ve totally lost most of my otaku drive to purchase any anime stuff, but I left Akihabara almost empty handed, save for the 2 Vampire Knight keychains that I’ve purchased for my younger sister. I only purchased that so I wouldn’t forget it later. It’s not good to break promises.

I think my otaku level is decreasing. This is a crisis! Let’s hope my visit to Nakano provides me with the salvation.

Anyway, dinner was at a cafe I visited during my previous trip with Windbell. The pasta was pretty good, so I came back for more. The price wasn’t too expensive, just around 800-900 yen.

I spent some time playing Tekken 6 at the arcade before heading back to the hostel. I must say, I’m really addicted to that game. I think I’m going to get a copy of it for the PS3.

It’s going to be more travelling again tomorrow as I head over to Nagano to meet up with some friends. Wedesday’s going to be scheduled for meeting up with a fellow blogger. I’m really looking forward to the meetings. All that’s left now is for the skies to stop pouring. The rain really dampens the mood >_>

Yeah, the rain can dampen the mood but just think of all the otaku who can’t be in Akihabara or any other part of Tokyo. ^_~ Just try to have fun the best you can (and thanks for the pictures).

Yeah, I was surprised at how much I bought when I was in Akiba in July. Granted I did get a wallet-breaking amount of things but I thought that I’d go a lot more crazy. And just yesterday I had the willpower to cancel a whole bunch of pre-orders.

    WE ARE GROWING OLD. GASP.

Haha, I guess for people who’ve got to that stage we’ve realized that there’s more to Japan than sticking ourselves in Akiba the whole day for more than one day straight.

In a way, decreased otaku desire is a good thing. It lets you explore more of your surroundings instead of being stuck in a store.

IMHO, Nakano is certainly better than Akiba in terms of bargains, since I don’t mind 2nd hand stuff. Have fun browsing through the pile.

Wow…. Only get a keychain even though you wandered through Akihabara…

Haha. I haven’t been around japan yet but let’s see what would I buy once I been there…very soon.
