And new characters get introduced to fill their spots.
In Ga-Rei Zero, the entire cast that was standing in the spotlight of the plot gets wiped out in the last few moments of the first episode. I’m predicting that the men in black featured in episode 2 won’t last much longer either. Man, the guy with the dual drills is quite awesome, so it’ll be a pity to see him go.

It was nice knowing you guys
As of now, Ga-Rei Zero has totally impressed me, and the first thing that came to my mind was Gantz. I’ve never read the manga, so I’ve totally no idea as to how the original plot is like. However, from just the first 2 episodes, it feels like I’m watching Gantz with a cast that doesn’t have super-powered tight-fitting suits that grant inhuman strength. Instead of hunting demons as part of a game to accumulate points, it’s their job. Since it’s not a game, there’s no fun. Not that there was really anyone who really enjoyed those hunts in Gantz, except for a couple of psychopaths such as Kei, who actually enjoyed the game at one point of time.
After all, how often do you get to see plots which suddenly wipe out the current cast, introducing more new faces? So far, the only one that I can think of is Gantz, and that might be due to my limited exposure to such genres. Even so, Gantz still retains it’s main character as Kei after his death and revival, while I’m still quite clueless as to who the real protagonist is in Ga-Rei Zero.
Ga-Rei Zero might be more gripping than Gantz, considering that lives in Gantz can be purchased with 100 points, while people die when they are killed in Ga-Rei Zero. Or do they? Or does Shirou’s meme still stand strong? Only time will tell.

This unconfirmed matter causes me sadness, since the lass riding the motorcycle looked pretty sassy. Also, this means no more Ikari Gendou wannabe poses!
I’m looking forward to more of the grandest gorefest of the season. It better not turn out to be a wimpy letdown.
People die when they are killed, yet they return as noble servants of the Earth.
Also, Mana transfer.
On a serious note, I really like Ga-Rai 0 for one reason now. Kagura. Nuff said.
Saber: Shirou, it appears that in Japan, people don’t die when they are killed.
Shirou: My entire life has been a lie!!!
Shirou is now depressed.
dead meat.
The main heroine is Kagura and her future “boyfriend”.
At least if they’ll follow manga.
Same here, I’m on the Ga-Rei Zero bandwagon. It’s so mind boggling and worth the watch as the plot is totally unpredictable. With the current cast wiped out, I wonder how the next few episodes will turn out to be? More wipe-outs or some flash back scenes? I’ll just sit tight and wait for the next few episodes’ release.
Sounds like this guy’s trying to copy Tomino’s style of writing. Kill ‘em all.
I really like the first episode. Sucks that they all died. I really liked Natsuki (bike-riding lass). Watched the other two eps too. Not so fond of Kagura. Hopefully she becomes a stronger character. I like Yomi better ^^
