Some Japanese site actually went to count the lines spoken by the various characters throughout the entire length of 26 episodes. That’s some pretty crazy stuff, and probably the first I’ve seen done for an anime. I wonder how much time was spent on this entire compilation project.

It appears that the title of the most talkative character in the Evangelion universe goes to Misato. However, I’m rather surprised that Asuka ranks 4th, speaking slightly lesser than Shinji and Ritsuko, who rank second and third respectively. I thought that she would at least rank top three due to her loud nature.
I was expecting Rei to rank a little lower in the bottom half, but she’s somewhere in the middle. Yui ranks at the bottom, and that should be no surprise considering her airtime. She shares the same seiyuu as Rei though, so it doesn’t really matter much.
The table directly above supposedly compiles the various levels of contact between the characters, with everything stated in percentage. I don’t really get how this is calculated, and how I understand this is that character pairs with higher percentages have better rapport. I could be wrong though, so if anyone understands what’s going on, please feel free to explain.
I suppose the guy who did this might do this analysis all over again when all 4 of the Rebuild of Evangelion movies have been released. I have to admit though, all this statistical love is something I simply don’t understand. Maybe some people just have an inexplicable love for graphs, charts and tables.

Oh wow .. someone really have losta time on their hands.
Sounds like quite alot of work.I wonder how long it took that person to count all the lines
Reminds me of the time someone went and counted how many times Suiseiseki uttered her famous meme in both season of Rozen Maiden.
I will re-do the counting to see if they did it ok…
mmm, better not… Lol.
