I'm not the least bit surprised since the same thing happened to me - except in reverse. Imouto-chan infects me (a lad who once dismissed anime as escapist entertainment for people with a hopeless boob-and-blood fetish) with the anime bug, we share a strong interest in anime (albeit in different genres) for a few years, then her passion for anime ebbs away as she mutates into a NEWS fangirl and soon I'm left all alone in otakudom.

I suspect that after I pass the anime bug onto someone else my own interest will start downshifting. Maybe that's just how things work. ;)

Since you're in Singapore, I suggest watching the new season anime shows on okto Animania. Toradora! and Skip Beat! aren't bad, unless you're not the people that watches TV often.

Lolis and otaku... Combine them together, and the whole world will collapse (though saying that reminded me of all the JRPGs on the Xbox 360 — JRPGs on an Xbox! Who'd thunk of that? — I am seeing right now).

Curiously asking: Japanese lessons at that Shaw Tower building, right?

Epik > Yea, it really is. Currently, I'm taking Japanese lessons twice to thrice a week, although that will be ending soon after all the makeup lessons are cleared and I go back to the regular once a week class.

Panther > I certainly did not plan that when I wrote this post.

Stifler > I thought the whole globe of otakus and their lolis were watching it.

Mark > All right then. I'll listen to your advice and check out the first episode of Afterstory, since you say there's baseball.

Caitlin > Real life might get more hectic for me in the weeks to come. Projects and their deadlines, one of which I'm already grouped in a group of 5 with 2 freeloaders, exams, as well as the JLPT which I have totally not started revision for.

Ketaikeon > Actually, I find it difficult to write about the animes I watch on a episodic basis. That's simply because I'm not one who likes to stick to routine. I'll probably rant about something if a certain episode in a certain series does give me some sort of inspiration.

Yeah, if you're still in school, anime's a really time-consuming hobby, like Caitlin said. Especially if it drains you of good sleeping time.

As you are an anime blog writer, I'm guessing you're undergoing a lot of pressure to write to a large audience- and watch more shows. However, the real point is to watch what you want to watch, although some readers would be happy if you gave a chance on some other shows. Toradora, Kannagi, and To Aru Majutsu no Index are looking promising this season.

Even so... I don't believe that you should stress yourself out on writing the blog or maintaining a "good otaku" persona by watching more anime if you truly do not feel motivated to do so. As this is your blog- go ahead and blog about the animes you watch.

If you've got time for one more, I'd recommend Toradora as well. That's the only one I've really got time to watch because real life is also quite busy. Anime is such a time-eating hobby - it's hard to keep it going at the same pace all the time.

I also recommend Toradora and definitely To Aru Majutsu no Index. Kannagi's good, as well. I'm really hoping Shikabane Hime gets good and doesn't remain a standard shounen-anime. I know you don't have any interest in Clannad but you really should check out the first (baseball-centric) episode of the After Story at least.

I dunno what to say about Gundam 00; on the one hand you could easily watch season 2 without having seen the first one (it's not well connected) but on the other I don't get what's so great about it. One of my friends seems to think it's really good, but he just marathoned pretty much every Gundam series a couple of months ago while I've only seen all of SEED and Destiny. At the moment I simply watch it as it's one of the few HD anime that I can see on my PS3 and it has some nice battles.

Ah, but it's not the amount of anime series that you watch that makes up your otaku-ness!
