Someone Save The Kaiji Live Action Movie

I must be lagging, since I only came to know about this piece of news at Canned Dogs almost 2 weeks after the post was up. When I read the title of the post, I wanted to rejoice over news of the movie. After all, I loved the anime.

Then I continued on to read the content. Instantly, a “WTF?!” slipped out. I sense eminent failure straight ahead, and for that, I shall weep buckets of Kaiji tears.

No kidding me. Fujiwara Tatsuya, also commonly known as Light, as Kaiji. Why, oh WHY?!?!

As of now, I’ve only watch 2 movies with him in them. Yet, I can speak with my confidence about his failure in both.

First, the Battle Royale movie. Unlike the novel or the manga, where Shuuya was a cool dude alongside the likes of Hiroki and Shinji, Fujiwara Tatsuya totally screwed his character up. Shuuya in the movie was never cool for a single moment. I didn’t feel any admiration for him, unlike what I felt in the manga and novel. He simply just doesn’t fit his role. His acting sucked, big time.

Next up, the famous Death Note movies that sucked Shinigami balls. Oh wait, Shinigamis might not have balls, but the movies still sucked anyway. All thanks to Fujiwara Tatsuya playing the role, Light became retarded. The rest of the movie cast did too, but that’s not the point here. Where did the evil genius suddenly disappear to? Oh wait, he’s in the movie, but in his limited edition intelligence form. Intelligence points that surpasses the abyss of zero. Once again, I must say this. His acting sucked, big time.

He can’t play a middle schooler who’s supposed to be somewhat cool and gutsy, although Shinji still wins the title of the coolest dude in Battle Royale, ever. He can’t play an evil genius either. Tell me, what can he really do? I really want to know. I don’t care if I get flamed by his fan girls, or even boys. If you hold such a failure of an actor with high regard, please look for another out there by watching more Jdoramas or movies.

I can forsee that Kaiji’s going to be some dumbass who can’t tell the difference from paper and stone, and the movie’s going to fail in an epic manner beyond words except ざわ… ざわ…

    I feel your pain, mate.

Kaiji is a failure loser at life so maybe this actor will find his level.

    Baka-Raptor > I’m sure you’ll make a fine Kaiji.

tj han > Personally, I find Fujiwara Tatsuya’s level of fail far beyond all the losers present in Kaiji.

That just ruined my day. It can’t be that hard to find some lowlife with a mullet to play Kaiji.

Shuuya in Battle Royale is not cool, charismatic or heroic like in the manga and the novel because of the scipt. You can watch from 1:45

“Shuuya played by Fujiwara Tatsuya is confused by his sense of justice and friendship. But he can’t do anything about it. He is just hanging about aimlessly.
It’s different from heroism in the original story. He is naive and sensitive but will be moved by the intensity of the reality he has to confront” quoted from the director of Battle Royale.
I have to admit that I am a fan girl but I don’t blindly praise his acting. I think that his Raito lacks intelligence, arrogance, and composed facade which are the essence of Raito’s characteristics. However, in my opinion he did a pretty good job in the Raito’s dying scene.
After watching Kaiji anime, I hope that Fujiwara Tatsuya will do a better job than in Death Note
