I stumbled upon the currently airing Bloody Monday Jdorama while surfing the net, and after reading the summary, I knew that I just had to watch it. I only need one reason to justify why I should.
Hacking.

Miura Haruma, the male lead from Koizora, who tj_han totally scorns, plays the role of the main character, Takagi Fujimaru. I hated his character in Koizora too, but in this drama, the tables have turned. He just got an unlucky with his previous role as a white-haired bastard, that’s all. This time, he’s not at all detestable in the slightest way, and in fact pretty cool too. I mean, who could hate hackers? I love them.

If you set a 4 character long password…

Your pr0n gets hacked
I’m a total sucker for hackers and their leet hacking skills. It’s also one of the reasons why I enrolled into my current course of study, Infocomm Security Management. Sadly, currently in the second semester of the second year in the course, my hacking skills still remain at zero. So yeah, you can laugh at me.
I’m not even sure how accurate the portrayal of the hacking is, since I’m a total noob at it. From how I see it, this is unrealistic hacking, just like most of the other fictional hacking media out there. I could be wrong though, so correct me if I really am. Well, at least he does his work with Linux. Still, it’s interestingly entertaining and intense enough to keep me hooked. The occasionally twists and turns in the plot only heighten the level of intensity.

Less than 20 lines of code to gain access into a state-owned power plant. Brilliant!
I’ve only read 8 chapters of the manga so far, so I’ve totally no idea how faithful the drama is to the manga. Still, those 8 chapters are enough to fuel my desire to purchase all 7 volumes, together with the soon-to-be-released 8th volume. It’s going to burn my wallet by more than a hundred bucks, but it’ll all be worth.
Since we’re on the topic of hackers in anime and manga, I might as well list a few.
Ghost in the Shell has swarms of hackers, with the Laughing Man being my idol. Battle Royale has Mimura Shinji, a middle school elite hacker who can also freaking build a bomb and do tons of other stuff I could only dream of. Cowboy Bebop has Ed, probably the funkiest hacker in the history of anime.
If you happen to know of more fictional 2D hackers, do list them. I’d be more than glad to receive additional knowledge on this topic.
Bloody Monday’s got it all; Gore, action and suspense. Watch it, read it.

Having a 4 character password isn’t so bad, especially when you consider the fact that many people don’t bother to put passwords anyway. Or use “password” as their password. You’d be surprised at how many people do that.
Nagato Yuki, of course. Hacks while looking all moe.
print >> “Type here your current password”;
print >> “Thanks, you will be hacked soon!”;
return 0;
Social engineering also works…
I dont like JDrama. But after reading your post on this certain drama (which is good), makes me wanna go watch it.
Hacking eh? Pretty interesting. Since I do hack sometimes c0ughs c0ughs. XDD
We all love intelligent villians. Thats how Death Note mush have gotten popular.
Stifler > Oh my, how could I have forgotten about Nagato Yuki.
phossil > But social engineering isn’t as cool as hacking digitally.
Kairu > Yea it’s pretty good. So far, the hacking in there is done via python on a unix-based OS.
Epik > Fujimaru isn’t a villain in this case.
No way! This got adapted?! Gotta see this
Oh they have a Jdorama on this? *Goes to load*
I was getting rather bored waiting for the manga raws to be out.
lol. i too got interested of bloody monday because of the hack and slash stuff!! its got blood, chicks, school and computers; what more do you need? wow, i can’t believe how similar we are… when i was a kid, i wanted to be somewhat like an inventor (that’s why i was planning on taking some engineering course) and now….. and now i’m taking up computer science for God knows why… to learn how to hack? i’m at my second year now also and all i’ve done is make simple games and database stuff.. fuck the what!? i wasted my childhood dream of becoming somehow like an inventor to becoming…. well i don’t know… well back to the topic, the drama is great; still waiting for the next episode though…
OMG i can’t believe i found this jus today… i’ve been hooked onto Bloody Monday forever but seriously this is beyond my imagination… i loooooooove Muira Haruka
Bloody Monday is a great JDrama, I really love it. I watched a lot of other JDramas but I was really waiting for this one just because it’s related to hacking and of course the suspense and the other stuff. Though while watching the episodes sometimes I pause in on Falcon’s desktop view and see what’s he doing and most of the time it’s all just fictional.
I believe on Episode 2 or something, he just loads a python script via the terminal and few seconds later, he gained root to target box … I was like wtf?
But I understand the idea though, of course they don’t want to show how real hacking is done because of some kids these days will try imitating it but I have to give a 9/10 for this JDrama because it just keeps you all hyped up every second.
Can’t wait to see the rest of the episodes!!!
honto desuka??…. i was just reading its manga… and then, i was also looking for anime adaptations…. unfortunately i didnt find one… i dun really like Jdoramas but.. i’ll try this one.. since there aint an anime for this…any way i rate bloody monday 9/10…XP
hey seem like you like hacking if so send me a email hear and will talk willj1228@hotmail.com
does any one know where to fing the os i meen windoes vista kinda os that falcon use by usb. i cant boot windows vista from a bootable usb at alll (sobs!)
@Taksuda: It’s not Windows Vista that’s he boots into. Her computer is running in Vista OS but he doesn’t know the password to her account so he boots in to compressed Linux via USB. As you can see, he navigates to her files through Terminal and copies the ‘Bloody Monday’ folder to his Flash Drive.
HEY FUk U ALL… im the FALCON.. i can do everything and anything to ur computer.^^
shut the fuck up the one upstair, i’m the real falcon okay? son of a bitch
