Ladies and Gentlemen, we have an issue. An issue of far more importance than squabbling over autographed whiteboards and kowtowing, although I have to admit that I still get a good laugh out of Mr Kowtow’s drama. During the AFA, a sinister presence was lurking in the seas of sweaty otakus, threatening the well-being of the innocent anime fans. A word of warning before we begin, please put on your protective goggles.
Here is our subject who we shall codename FatShinji. Now, we must put aside our differences between being a rational or irrational otaku and deal with this with great urgency!
Here are the reasons as to why he possess a threat to the Human Instrumentality Project:
1. He’s ripping apart Eva 01’s pilot’s plugsuit. With the plugsuit damaged due to over expansion, possibly destroyed, the synchronization rate between the pilot and the Evangelion would be significantly decrease, and the the world would probably have wiped out in episode 1. That means Asuka and Kaworu wouldn’t be able to make their appearance. Yaoi fangirls and tsundere fanboys, can you live with that?!
2. He stands in the way of the Rebuild of Evangelion’s aim of remodelling Shinji into a man who’s a step closer to Simon or Kamina. I’m sure that we’ve been sick and tired of Shinji being such a fag for the past 10 years or so, and hence, we shall get rid of the obstacle and allow Shinji to successfully undergo his metamorphosis. No longer will he be able to scar the minds of Evangelion watchers.
3. There’s a high possibility of him exterminating your hearty appetite. A group of us caught a glimpse of him just before lunch, and needless to say, lunch wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been.
4. People actually mistook him for cross-playing as Rei. Unforgivable, I say!
5. How many of you actually didn’t protect your eyes and barged on to the image? See the damage it has done? The only cure is to rinse your eyes clean in LCL, and even so, it’s not a 100% success rate.
6. Clearly, he cosfucked. Just like the TMA Shinji.
There are still many reasons as to why FatShinji is dangerous, and probably combustible too. I’m sure many of you can further enhance the information in the documentation list.
To make matters worse, I’ve been informed by certain sources that FatShinji might be attending the next local cosplay event as FatAsuka. Oh the HORROR!!!
As such, we should band together and fight against evil, in this case, FatShinji. I propose shooting on sight. Not with your camera, since your precious thousand dollar lens would crack. Instead, you can arm yourself with rubber bands or super soakers. BB guns would be awesome if they weren’t banned locally.
Remember, approach the subject for the kill cautiously if you ever spot him. I would advise you to escape the moment his WTF-level surpasses MORE THAN 9000.

He was the first cosplayer I saw at the event unfortunately. I had no idea which EVA character he was initially.
My suggestion would be Recalibrate all instruments…. or advice him to go to the gym.

It was the first cosplay I saw while waiting for my friends to arrive. Right outside the event hall, and well, it was the main reason for making me run in the hall really fast.

There is no such thing as a perfect cosplay =__= Yeah so there are some people who doesn’t have what it takes to “be” the character but MOST of them make a lot of effort and spend a lot of money to have their little moment in cosplay paradise.
It’s a shame you can’t even appreciate the hard work this guy made to complete his cosplay. It’s true he isn’t THE BEST cosplayer but it is better than anything anyone I know can make. And even if they would, this is a really good cosplay that you can see a lot of effort had being invested into it.

Actually I wasn’t planning on commenting but because I was reading the forum post you made, I couldn’t help but laugh at how unreasonable some people are ( I kind of feel sorry for you that you have to take their crap).
Before people start going on about me, the cosplayer you mentioned here is actually a friend of mine and as far as I know, he buys his costume, but regardless who’s handiwork that is, I must say that’s the first time I saw a plug suit being so loose and made out of that kind of material. >.> I mean I’ve seen some morbidly obese people in plugsuits before but their handicraft was still alright (even though my eyes burned 100 times more than the picture you put up).
I remember someone on that forum saying about cosplay is hard work and something about at least he put in effort. For me as a cosplayer, there is a difference between effort and “i’ll just go with what I have last minute” (and some people just have bad judgement). This thing non-cosplayers cannot understand so I don’t believe they have a right to say something like this.
I am on your side this time, even though that shinji cosplayer is my friend. Perhaps because I have seen much much worse than this that my eyes are already used to it but I think as a cosplayer you should be improving everytime.
And to all those that are against double bagging him out, seriously even if he didn’t bag him out, this photo would have found it’s way onto cosfu one way or another, and let me say, westerners are much worse at expressing their opinions.
