Touch Konami: Games For The iPod Touch & iPhone

As reported by IGN, Konami’s prepared to release its lineup of games for the iPod touch and iPhone, and that’s good news for me as well as anyone else who has been looking forward to some fun games on their gadget. Currently, there are 4 games that are displayed on Konami’s Touch Konami website.

First up, the game which I am looking forward to; Metal Gear Solid Touch, which is the iPod version of Metal Gear Solid 4, or so I’ve read. Sounds pretty nifty if you ask me. Although I’ve already completed MGS4 once on my Playstation 3, I certainly wouldn’t mind it on the iPod Touch. That way, train rides to school would be far more entertaining. How the game play is going to be implemented interests me, so I’m hoping that the game will be released soon.

There’s also SILENT HILL The Escape, a first player shooter. While there have been other FPS games on the iPod Touch/iPhone, I’ve yet to try them out. I’m not sure if I would get this game, since I’m not really interested in FPS games on portable devices. I prefer to enjoy them on a larger screen, with mouse and keyboard controls. What more, the only time I’ve ever played Silent Hill was in an arcade in Japan, so I’m don’t have any interest in the series.

For DDR fans, there’s Dance Dance Revolution S Lite. I have no idea what the S means, but they certainly wouldn’t be any dacing going on in this game. It’ll be something like Tap Tap Revolution. I might play this if the songs provided are decent and not those Euro remixes that irritate the hell out of me. It’ll be even better if the songs are up-to-date Japanese pop and rock, which Tap Tap Revolution sorely lacks.

And lastly, Frogger, which I don’t have much of an idea what it is about, except that you control a frog. I think.

All the games will be released some time later in December, while MGS Touch’s release date’s some time in Spring 2009. It’s a pity that DDR S Lite will only be available for Japan and North America. The other 3 games will be released worldwide though, so it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.

This might just be mark the beginning of a gaming market for the iPod Touch/iPhone. If so, that’s going to be great, since they might just be able to be the next DS replacement, although I highly doubt Nintendo would such a prophecy to be fufilled. Hopefully, other big players in the industry board the ship and supplement us with more games.

In the meantime, I shall stick to gaming on my PS3 and PC.

Why the hell would I want MGS on my iPod touch? I don’t want games like that, I want quick games I can play like Bejeweled 2 or something that’ll make exceptional use of its features =/

You don’t know what Frogger is? That is like THE classic game of the 1980s! lol

The DDR game looks like Stepmania on the PC. Controls looks the same. I wonder if the user can add or change songs on their own – that’s one function that’s missing in all games like this.

The first step towards getting eroge games on the iPhone? lol

IcyStorm > I guess different people have different wants. Those quick games you speak of, I lose interest in those really quickly =/

Stifler > There’s already eroge on the iPhone. Tsukihime and some others as well.

Nice blog, I was performing some web snooping and happened upon your website, I used to be pondering if you knew your website is displaying strangely in the K-mellon internet browser. I can see most of it however the pictures are somehow out of whack. Most likely not a huge deal since basically no one utilizes it anymore however I am old school and still run it.
