A Dancing Very Merry Christmas

Full Metal Panic, alongside Evangelion, has been one of my favourite series, be the it novel, anime or manga. As such, since I love the series, it’s only natural for me to love the 2 female lead characters in it too. Today’s Christmas eve, but for FMP fans who don’t bother about that, it’s Chidori and Tessa’s birthday too.

As a annual “tradition”, on this day, I shall write some random fanboy post regarding FMP.

One year has passed since then, and it makes the fanboy within me gloomy without any news of a new FMP season. My FMP dosage has only been limited to re-watching the past seasons and reading the manga each time a new volume’s released, and I blame KyoAni for that. Curses, KyoAni!

The manga’s currently going at a nice pace, soon to be covering the events in Semaru Nick of Time. That’s pleasing to know, especially since my Japanese still isn’t at the level where I’m able to breeze through the light novels. Still, it still irks me a little that the manga totally left out the events in A Dancing Very Merry Christmas. Tessa in a maid costume is a must-have!

Merchandise-wise, there isn’t much except for the Blu-ray boxset releases for the past seasons. They’re basically the same as the previous boxset releases, only that they’re now on Blu-ray. Besides the DVDs, there have been a few FMP figurines that have been released, such as the FMP girls with movable joints, as well as 3 cheap, crappy quality Armslaves.  The ARX-7 Arbalest, or should I say Arvalest, that all the FMP mecha fans have been waiting for is still not out. Curses, Alter!

On another related note, there was an FMP event held on 3rd November this year, aptly titled 陣代高校文化祭 (Jindai High School Cultural Festival). I didn’t know of this until recently, and it seems like it’s been running on for the past few years. From what I read, it’s supposed to be a doujin event where everything sold is FMP. There was also the display of the model guns and other cool stuff in the series. Pretty nifty, I must say.

Anyway, this sums up this year’s 24th December entry. Happy birthday to the two girls, and A Dancing Very Merry Christmas to everyone out there!
