Broken Bats Equate To Power Levels

Just when I thought I would never see another broken bat in Major after Season 4’s finale, 3 bats were broken in a single episode, and what more, all in row. Something has got to be wrong with those crappy bats used in Major. Are they like, termite infested or something?

The number of broken bats probably has to do with Goro’s pitching power level. It’s something like the bounty system in One Piece, where higher bounties equate to more power, or even the self-explanatory power levels in Dragon Ball. After all, Major’s a shounen series, and power levels in shounen series are mandatory. Well, mostly.

Mayumura’s probably 20-30 broken bats, since he kicks Goro’s ass with his crazy Gyroballs. It sure was a pity that he sat out during the All Japan and Young Japan match. I was so looking forward to watching him kick some ass. No matter, there’s always the World Baseball Cup to look forward to.

Toshiya owned Goro’s ass too, literally

Interesting that you learned about wooden bats in the majors from watching anime! I would suggest that the prevalence of broken bats in the show are representative of real world issues in baseball. For some reason, in recent years, bats have begun breaking with increasing frequency. While you might see 1 or 2 break per game several years ago, you might see 10+ broken bats in a game, sometimes 2 or 3 in a row. An extensive investigation was launched into the causes, but I don’t think anything conclusive was found. Some have suggested that climate changes have affected the quality of the wood. Who knows – it’s definitely annoying, though.
