I would suggest that the prevalence of broken bats in the show are representative of real world issues in baseball. For some reason, in recent years, bats have begun breaking with increasing frequency. While you might see 1 or 2 break per game several years ago, you might see 10+ broken bats in a game, sometimes 2 or 3 in a row. An extensive investigation was launched into the causes, but I don't think anything conclusive was found. Some have suggested that climate changes have affected the quality of the wood. Who knows - it's definitely annoying, though.</description>
